My girlfriend Dahon Speed from around 1999-2000 is noisy!

I try lubing frame hinge and stem hinge but noise doesn't always go away.

Any solution fro this?

The bike is pretty good (3X7 and all) but it is annoying.

At worst, i may build a fixed stem similar to Swift.

Thanks!

If you're talking about a creaking/squeaking noise, then I sympathize with you. On my Bike Friday, the folding seat mast also started squeaking and the only way I can get it to stop is to almost over-tighten the quick-release mechanism after a lube job. If the Dahon is making noises in both places, that's the pits.

Take it to a bike mechanic. :P

I have been a bike mechanic for 10 years (off since 2 years). I build my own recumbent since 2001. I have fully updated and customized a Twenty. I doesn't make any sound other thn usuals.

The frame and stem hinge, appart from an adjustment for tightness can't be tighten. The pivot can't be tighten either.

Hope to find a solution.

I am surprised for the creaking noise of a BikeFriday. I was thinking of maybe buying one.

I have a low-end Bike Friday single and was also surprised by the creaking. I notice their new low-end models have removable seatposts. Don't know if there's a correlation. We also have a customized BF tandem that we bought used - no creaks whatsoever.

Have you emailed DahonTech about the noise issue?
