:eek: I just got a new tri bike and it has Mavic Cosmic Carbone wheels....with valve extenders. I can't seem to inflate them. I'm using a standard Blackburn floor pump. The guy at the store told me all i have to do is just put the pump on the extender and inflate like normal. When i do this, seems like no air is actually going into the tire..basically just leaking out the side. These valve extenders are very flimsy and essentially just screw into the tube somewhere down in the deep rim. This is my first bike whith deep rims. Im very confused. Please help.

The first problem is that the valve may not be open. Are they tubular or clincher? If they are tubular or clincher you may have to remove the tire to get to the valve stem to open it. The other issue is that you are going to have to twist the valve extender down tight. I had a similar problem with my Zipp wheels, but fortunately I just has to tighten the valve extention. The tires are continental 3000 GP's...clinchers as far as I know.

Well... I posted a long reply but it didn't take so... here's the shorten'd version:

Remove the valve extension and check for damage.
Remove the tube and make sure that the valve is in the "Open" position.
Put everything back together. You may want to try a light lube on the threads to help seal the valve extenstion to the valve.
