so i was communting to work (as i do 5 days a weeK) on my single speed, enjoying the morning ride, when out of the corner of my eye i spot a shiny pink track bike. now there aren't too many single speed guys ( a handful), and even less fixies around (that i know of), so i figured i'd turn around and talk to the guy. i approached, said hello, and said "nice bike". i proceeded to say how there aren't too many track bikes around here. his reply was: "there all over the city, and a few of us actually ride them on the track". he then started to tell me about kissena (which i didn't know of), and we talked briefly about traffic along the ocean blvd. in the last few weeks i've spotted a lot of fixies...is this the quiet before the storm?

it was a relief to talk to someone who gave you the time of day instead of the usual not even hello from another cyclist because i'm not in spandex.

yeah i hear you on that. today i actually rode with a local group on a short ride (15 miles or so in a loop through monmouth co.) and watched the last stage of the tour on the big screen at a bar after the ride. there were some racers in the group and they were cool. it was just great to meet some other riders and plan some long rides. are you part of the pillage and plunders of DC?
