Berts,
Notice you haven't posted in three weeks or so. I'm sure things in Israel are distracting these days. Good Wishes and prayers for you and yours.....when you can, let us know how things are for you. I imagine you are too old for being a reservist but who knows. Nobody is emotionally reserved during such a terrible time.

I posted an entry for Berts in the Rogue's Gallery last week. However, he had submitted it to me a couple of weeks previously.

+1!
It warmed my heart to receive your well wishes during this period of distraught.
We all hope for a speedy end to this conflagration and a significant (absolute) reduction in Hizbollah's ability to launch missles at will onto Israel - a capacity which has been highly developed during the past several years ever since our withdrawal from Lebanon in 2000.
An alternative solution would be their acceptance of Israel and cessation of their incessant belligerent efforts to erase us from the map. Unfortunately this is not forthcoming and we have been reduced to applying force, once again.
In a way I feel sorry for those who grow with hatred, being indoctrinated from an early age, leaving little room for positive thoughts, stifling the hopes of a brighter future.
I am still riding my bike and have even entered several competitions this season. Being past the age of reserve duty I do not worry about being called up. My youngest son is in the army, however he is non-combatant, so my mind is more at ease. With that, everyone is affected by the recent events and we all hope for a peaceful future. In the words of Anwar Sadat, Egypt's late President: "No more war, no more bloodshed".
Peace and blessings to all BF50+ers.

was thinking of you, glad to hear you;re okay
sadly, so many good people on both sides have not been as lucky.
not sure what it will take to bring people together, but I know if we leave it to politicos, that hope disappears.
here's hoping for some settling of aggressions and for some real solutions in the very near future

I cannot understand the mentality of certain groups. There is the Davis Tennis match at our local seaside town-Eastbourne- UK against Israel. A local Pakistani group is set to protest at the entrances against the actions of Israel.
So called "Religion" may be taking a hand in this- but what the hell has Pakistan got to do with problems in Lebanon and Israel. Do not want to get political but there is a major problem around the world and Israel seems to me to be in the firing line at the moment.

Berts! Time for another check in. How ya doing, buddy???
Still alive and pedalling.
As I ride along the peaceful roads bordering Israel and the Palestinian National Authotity, a spit's distance away from my home, I still listen to the wind for the answer "how many times must the cannonballs fly before they're forever banned"
DeeGee - thanks for your concern
peace and blessings.

We've been watching war news for 24 days straight even as you live it....almost until it seems "normal". Prayers here for you and yours that peace returns as the norm. Meantime, you keep pedaling---one of those existential what-else-can-you-do things. Stay safe, Berts.......and check in now and then.
My prayers and blessings also!
Berts-here is hoping you can find some peace on some of your rides.
