Mountain Biking - Could you spends few minutes to help me do a survey?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

that is the worst survey ever. i stopped answering questions after the first page because they don't make sense. I don't know whether you are a native English speaker or not, but if you are not, you might want to have one of your colleagues who is go over the questions and fix the numerous problems.

Your first question makes sense, then it tells me jump to question 3 (i chose "yes") but apparently that's if I chose "No."

You need some of your colleagues to look over this :-P

Aside from the fact that this survey assumes you only have ONE mountain bike, it wasn't too bad for someone who does not speak english as a first language. Who has only 1 MTB??

I agree. He now knows where he needs to fix it. People don't need to be continually bashed on in their own thread especially if they are meaning no harm to others. :)

Hi, thanks for everybody's advices. I am not a native speaker. In fact, the dissertation is an independent work, hence, supervisor will not give me too many advices. Supervisor's responsibility is ensure your survey questions are ethical. If you guys really could not understand the questions on the questionnair, that's my fault. However, if you can answer the most of qustions as you can, it is still useful to me. Thank you everybody here. Josh Tseng

Josh-- You really must remake this survey. I stopped after the second question because I have several bikes, not just one. On your survey I could only choose one type of bike. Many people have more than one bike, so being able to choose more than one response in a must. Good luck.

Right, what I really mean on this question is talk about how much time do you spend on the purchase information search, normally, consumers will spent time to look for some product information before making a purchase decision.

Hi, Ziemas

Very appreciate your advice! However, the questionnaire has been launched in several MTB forums (UK base and here) about 10 days ago, and until now the accumulative respondents are reach 150 people. (Target: 250) Hence, it has a difficulty to remake it. Sorry for my carelessness. If you guys don't mind, could you fill the questions based on your last purchase, and actually, this proposal is aim to investigate the key decision elements in mountain bikes consumers' 'evaluation of alternatives' and 'choice criteria' in purchasing bicycles. Therefore, what I really want to know is you guys' purchase reasons on MTB.

Thank you!

I am interested in MTB, but I am not a player. I riding a MTB is for recreation or go shopping purposes.
The most important thing is that I am going to work for 'GIANT Bicycle' in Taiwan after graduated. I would like myself to engage more on the MTB.
I also interested in consumer behaviour in marketing region, so I combined another interest(MTB) to be the topic on my dissertation.

If you're planning to work in the industry, one of the best things you could do is stick around on the forums (here or elsewhere, anywhere that's really active) and just start participating - you won't get much quantifiable information that would be useful for school, but you would learn a lot about preferences and attitudes that very few of your future colleagues do!

Plus, you'll have a great time...

Cool, Thank you for your practical advice. People who in the specific forums, such as Bike Forums, are the front line of bicycle market. I believe what you said about learning cyclists' preferences and attitudes here. Those factors will be the most important things to the bicycle company.

ZachS

Also, the more you ride (and the more kinds of riding you do), the more you will learn... you'll be able to bring something to the table that not a lot of people in Taiwan can...

I reached #50 and asked when does this thing end? I bailed out. Combining questions such as asking if 'advertisement and visiting a LBS influenced your decision' are pointless since it assumes individuals visiting an LBS are influenced by advertisements. I was not aware that the British Pound was the most common monetary value. I thought the Euro or Dollar were more common. Finally, inventing new words for a survey (not found in Websters) is not a smart thing to do.

Right! Mr.SaintAndrew. As you said, Dumber and Dumber? In my opinion, you must be a clever guy.
So, why don't you give me some advices just like ZachS did. He blamed my survery designed but also gave me some advices. How about you?

Are you using babelfish or something?

I think a great deal of the distaste comes from your use of the English language. Just like your previous post:

"Right! Mr.SaintAndrew. As you said, Dumber and Dumber? In my opinion, you must be a clever guy.
So, why don't you give me some advices just like ZachS did. He blamed my survery designed but also gave me some advices. How about you?"

What you should have said was:

"Right! Mr.SaintAndrew....So, why don't you give me some advice just like ZachS did. He blamed my survey design, but has also given me some constructive advice. Why can't you?"

If your survey doesn't flow freely, then it becomes a burdon to read.
