General Cycling Discussion - Know of any good articles/resources on bottom brackets?

Hi everyone,
I have to write a 10-page paper on something related to bikes or the bike industry. I know a whole lot about bikes, and the topic I picked was bottom brackets, but I can't find as much info as I thought. If you know of ANY articles concerning how they work, what they do, who makes them, different types, etc. please email me, I would really appreciate it. Even if it is simple stuff (I know how a BB works, who makes them, how to service them, etc., but I just need more sources so that I can squeeze 10 pages out of this sucker)

Barnett's manual (http://www.bikeforums.net/barnettes/) chapters 9 and 10 deals with Bottom brackets.

Sheldon Brown's website (http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_bo-z.html) is a rich source of information about all things relating to bicycle mechanics.

Manufacturers' websites, like Shimano and Chris King may have some info for you.

Park Tool's site (http://www.parktool.com/repair_help/FAQindex.shtml#bottom%20bracket) will tell you how to work on bottom brackets.

Check out some of the standard repair manuals too, like Bicycling Magazine's Complete Guide.

Awesome!! Thank you so much!! I have been using Sheldon Brown's site, but of course I needed more info than that. And Bicycling's Complete Guide is our class textbook, and I will get notes from that in class tomorrow.

Go to your local used book emporium (or ebay) and
look for Sloanes "the complete Bicycle book".
I found my copy (copyright 1975?) at 1/2 price books
for $3.98 (for the hardback version).
Sloane goes over everything in sometimes painful
detail. And the pictures etc. are a hoot, hippies on
bikes! Yikes!

And your parents think you're slaving away at school!

Who did invent the bottom bracket, and what did the mark-1 look like? Was it taken from some other device or what?
You may want to do some research on tandem bottom brackets , oil bath and grease injection lubing, principles of lubrication (tribology), threading standards (Whitworths, Italian, French etc).
Im sure you are capable of looking this stuff up on google, or even in a book!!

My dad has that book. Thanks for reminding me, but unfortunately he is 3 hours away, and the paper is due Thursday. But still, thanks anyway.
