I was riding a drainage ditch near my house last night and had a blow out. I found a large bent nail near by that I suspect caused the tire to literally explode. I'm sure the tube is trashed and I will find out in the morning whether the tire was damaged as well. ie. too big of a hole or sidewall damage. Being out of the BMX scene 20 years I didn't know what to get so ended up going with an Eastern Ace of Spades which came with a Kenda Kiniption tire on the back. I spoke with a friend that mountain bikes and he said Kenda was on the low end of the spectrum as far as quality goes. I haven't had any problems with the tires except for the blow out which I doubt any tire would have avoided. I just wanted to get a feel for what people prefer for back tires for freestyle and street before I get a replacement Kenda.
Thanks

Your friend is a idiot if he says Kenda is on the low end of the spectrum, they are one of the highest ranked in the mountian biking world, right around maxxis.
I really like my Animal GLH.

Some kenda tires suck ass, like k-rads, but I've have a few different kenda tires and they were good tires.
Right on, I will likely go with the replacement Kenda Kiniption if needed. It seemed to be a pretty good tire to me aside from the blow out. :(

Sharp looking bike man, what do you ride most?
Well as far as the tire goes, there is a half inch gash in the center of the tire and the tube was punctured in two places so a new tube is in order. Not sure what the rule of thumb is on when to patch or toss the tire so I'll probably just order a replacement Kenda.

Shadow Conspiracy and odyssey tires are my favorite, i like the belter alot and it did well in everything, and the dirtpath tire which to me feels alot like the belter, and odyssey has a 1.85 version so you can run it in the back too, i like any tire that goes past 65 psi so i can ride anything, i honestly dont like those kenda tires that came on the ace of spades, my friend has one, and they wore down really fast, if they had higher psi though id have no problems with em'

I like my Animal ASM quite a bit so far. It hooks up well, the fact that there's no tread makes it feel a lot better than the stock tire IMO, and it makes a badass sound when you rub your foot on it to slow down so it's a good brakeless riders' tire.

for the rear either an animal asm or an odyssey chase goulin. Depends on if you like a bigger or smaller rear tire.

Primo walls and odyssey tires are some of the best.
