What happened to the Jay Leno Show? He was supposed to go on there on Friday.

Appearance was cancelled due to all the controversy. I'd rather see Floyd on the Daily Show anyways.

I heard Floyd is on Larry tonight. I can't check on the TV guide as they don't list last minute guests, but my girlfriend saw it on a commercial.

Floyd Landis said he has no idea how tertesterone would affect his perfomance.

Floyd Landis also said he only hears about doping in cycling from the media. (It's not discussed by the riders.)

Dr. Brent Kay (FL personal physician) clearing up that the ratio is off not necessarily the level of tertesterone. Doc says tertesterone would not be used for short term performance enhancement. Floyd takes thyroid medication but would not have caused the test result.

Questions:
Ever used a banned substance in your career as a cyclists?
FL:No

sunninho
07-28-06, 08:09 PM
He said the thyroid medication has no performance enhancing effect, and that the cortisone shots were spread out over three weeks and he obtained a medical exemption for them.

He was horrible reading that statement earlier today.
He needs to shoot straight, and be himself.

Ugh!

It's 2:00AM where Floyd was & he has been up all day answering this cr@p. Methinks the boy could use a decent night's rest.

club is great. i've been busy with work, and after my DNF on the 600k with knee issues i've been riding for fun - no computer, aerobars, hrm, etc.

waiting for my new IF to arrive. picking and researching components. so many choices...!

Greg180

Larry asked about the whiskey but Floyd and his doctor did not give that any credibility. I dont belive that Floyd wants to hang his title on the "alcohol" defense.

I think Floyd is a country boy who is not the most articulate guy in the world. He looks and sounds like a lot of us would if we were dealing with the international media. The stress he is under probably makes the TDF look like a Sunday ride.

His Dr's full of sh*t regarding the whole testosterone is a bodybuilding steroid and would add to much mass to a cyclist, and is therefore absurd statement.

But for those just tuning in, It does sound good.

Anyone who has listened to or read testimony from pro's who've been busted knows that Test. is used as a recovery agent and has been for years. As well as being used in the offseason for strength building etc..

Floyd seemed real nervous when asked questions about doping.. but all the other questions he was laughing and being himself. I;m guessing he is just worried that the media may take his qoutes out of context and is concentration on what to say.

Props to his mom... she is really good at public speaking and interviews.

I always feel bad when these athletes get stuck under the gun. Reminded me of Mark McGwire. Innocence or guilt aside, both Landis and McGwire are great athletes who are reduced to nothing in front of media bulldogs. Alot of people would crack if they were under the same scrutiny.

I do think he lied about the doping stuff though. With all his ties throughout the peleton I'm sure he knows at least one doper.

Yeah, when the Dr. gave that answer, I thought even Larry King, the king of the creampuff interview, would ask the "tough" follow-up Q: "so, if testosterone isn't performance-enhancing for bike riders, why do they even test for it?"

I liked Lance's reminder that it's the same lab who leaked and/or doctored his old test samples who did Floyd's test this time.

Interesting to hear that Floyd and his doctor have never seen any other test results, b/c if there's no abnormality, there's no test data shared with them.

Yeah, I liked Lance's shot at the lab doing the testing.

Man, I didn't know they were going to replace him for tonights late show. A little controversy and they give him the boot? I think it would have made for good conversation.

Oh well, I hate Jay Leno anyways.

Quite a contrast between Lance, who's had 7+ years in this kind of spotlight, and Floyd, who's getting his first taste of the harshest spotlight, as far as their comfort answering questions and being articulate tonight.

Of course, Floyd has lawyers no doubt coaching him and legal limitations at the moment that Lance no longer has regarding this subject.

I'm in Temecula for the summer and couldn't believe it when I heard the guy lives here. It's way hot, there aren't enough good hills, and the traffic is bad along with pretty aggressive drivers. Not an ideal cycling location imo.

I have ridden that area and points south, west and east. Enough hills within reasonable distance like Mt. Palomar. And of course the sunbathers resort next to Club Mud and the hot springs.

As was Leno. He said he would be on next week because he got held up by the French. Then of course Tom Arnold gave a couple of shots to the French and cycling as well. He has done some RAGBRAI's himself.

Floyd was raised a Mennonite. He rode his first bike when he was 15. I would be surprised if he was comfortable under the camera. I actually find his stiffness honest and endearing. I'm always wary of people who are too smooth - they're also often the best liars and grifters.

I wonder if Floyd passed a Voight-Kampff test whether all the accusations would be dropped.

Larry King: "What does testosterone do for a race driver?"

Well, for Ricky Bobby, it helps him stay ahead of the French competition.

Hey, come on!

What is this stupid thread doing on a road cycling forum???????

I hereby request that this thread is moved to "foo".

It's even more insulting that some stupid moderator has chosen to make it sticky.
