View Full Version : Headaches+Energy Drinks:D
Man I woke up with a mild headache. Once I went shoppin for birthday presents it got really bad. I went to CVS and had a monster energy. It's loaded with glucose, lcarnitine, caffeine,b vitamins, inositol ect. and in 30 min it was gone:) What's up with that? I thought I heard somewhere, a while ago, that caffeine helps headaches. hm.

was it diet? some people don't seem to tolerate sucralose well.
Yeah it was low carb.
maybe you don't do well with sucralose.
i don't know what it is, maybe psychological, but i never feel that great after sucralose.
Caffeine is great for relieving headaches. I used to use it to that effect all the time, and found myself always having a headache if I wasn't hopped up on the stuff. Here's a credible link on the subject:

I still have been having headaches for this whole week. I guess coffee and ibuprofen would help like that article says. Cool:)
Congratulations, you are addicted to caffiene.
I'm also an addict, and I get headaches without some caffiene by about noon or so. With the caffiene, I'm good.
Someday I'll kick the habit.

Excedrin has caffiene.
Like the article Zinn-X references, caffiene dilates blood vessels.

Four possibilities (?).
(1) The disappearance of the headache had nothing to do with the drink. A single data point does not a trend make.
(2) You were low on electrolytes (Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium or Potassium) and the drink contains some.
(3) You're blood sugar was low.
(4) you normally drink Caffein in the morning and you didn't have any before going out.
I'm not too sure that low blood sugar (#3) can cause headaches. For me, the symptoms are speckels in my peripheral vision for a bad case and just a real blah, tired feeling with a moderate case.

Even if you aren't addicted to caffiene, it helps eliminate headaches, as do fluids, electrolytes and some carb-ish calories... makes good sense.
Gatorade was originally developed to help people recover from hangovers, dehydration and heatstrokes, so we all know that researchers had a bead on what "real people" have problems with ;)

I know it's a bit off the original subject, but I get monster headaches from drinking beverages with sucralose. I can get away with one can/bottle and even then I can feel a mild one coming, but two sodas and I'm hurting bad.
It's not a placebo effect, either...I noticed bad headaches after using 3 separate products with Splenda at different times, then did my own research afterwards.
