I was looking into brake levers, and I want to know which one I should get. I want to cut my bars more so I want a lever that can go on the bend. I was looking into the dirty harry? Any opinions/suggestions?

Brakes are unprogressive.

How so?

I've ridden brakeless the past 2-3 years and I'm thinking about getting a pair so I can Learn Fufunus and other tricks that are Super hard to learn with out brakes. Then when I get them dialed I'm gonna take em off.

Your an idiot.

Id like to see you do brakeless fufs, abubacas and tail taps.

Too bad I've seen all of those tricks done brakeless, even I can do brakeless tail taps. ANY trick can be done without brakes. Why use them? I guess YOU'RE the idiot now.

oh, by the way, dont give me the whole "540 hurricane" bullcarp, I've witnessed those brakeless too.

You could 180 first and then use pedal pressure and manual the top of whatever you're riding, then 180 back in, like Eddie Cleveland does.

Eddie Cleveland is one sickass rider. I keep watching that Lotek video. He is so good.

I ordered the lever and an Odyssey Linear cable... I can't wait until they come so I can ditch my damn gyro and cut my bars a bit more. I also just won the Orchid Hex shoes off of ebay. I just got them for like $25.. not bad eh?

Brakeless tail taps are easy. For one.
Lets see you do fufs and abubacas brakeless.

Im not saying it cant be done, im saying its harder. But people like Eddie Clevland manage very well, haha.

Also, i like using brakes so that when im at a skatepark i dont have to be a dick and run into everyone becuase i cant stop. But maybe you enjoy that.

Number one, I don't like paying to ride my bike. Number two, I've never ran into anyone with my bike before. I guess it just takes a little bike control. Number three, I for the record can't do fufanus or abubacas on quarters, by choice, because that's not my style of riding. There is a lot more tricks out worth more of an effort over those two. I'm not going to put on brakes for a few non-moving, chunky tricks.

ooo, don't get testy

Fufanus can actually look pretty cool, especially in some type of trick combo... so I really wouldn't call them chunky tricks.

i got fuf's really smooth and they dont look sketchy at all, you really need to just accept the fact that brakes are useful.

Wait till a skater starts to go where your about to land while your in the air, and you run into them. Then talk about bike control.

Where were from we have this thing called park ettiquette. We avoid collisions before they happen, when an occurance happens where one or the other might be in danger of a collision we stop. Skaters don't have brakes. They do all their tricks. Why don't you go blame them for running into everything? As far as the usefullness of brakes, there is really no reason for myself, and a LOT of other people to accept they are "usefull". Look at Ian Schwartz, Edwin Delarosa, Vinnie Sammon, the Voices riders, Eddie Cleveland, Steve Crutoue (sp?) sean fish hoskins-just to name some. I know you kids all want to be them. Fufanus and abubacas really are going to go the way of the double peg stall. I promise.

I have gone brakeless before and I do like it... I actually thought about leaving them off, but my parents wouldn't like that so much.

My parents don't really care, since it doesn't affect them at all whether I have little metal things with rubber shoes on them to rub against my rim or not.

Plus I paid for the bike myself, and will for any upgrades.

Park ettiquette dosn't mean anything when your in mid air and a skater decideds to be on a ramp where you are about to land. No they won't.

even with brakes in that situation you're probably going to be pretty ****ed, and if you are in the air and not paying attention, odds are you wont have the reaction time to be like "Hey i need to hit the brakes and stop so the skater doesn't run into me." In that situation you'd be best off just veering out of the way, no slowing down needed, son. Anyways, worst comes to worst, you can foot in the tire it. No big thang. Brakes still aren't needed. Feel free to throw any other situations at me. I like problem solving.

My shoes cost way more than the average set of bike brakes, so the choice is obvious.

sprintcarblue

set of brakess- $30 for brakes, $10 for linear cable, $15 for a lever, $10 for good aftermarket pads. thats $65 and I have never payed that much for shoes. Eitherway, you find more ways to slow down or stop than shoes.

And by the way to answer the original question, I use Odyssey Monolevers on my flat bike and they are fantastic.

But you'd have to buy more than one pair of shoes from all the shoes you wear out from being brakeless.
