Because I dont care whether or not I win or lose.
But today I did. I showed up at Silver Star today for a few races, and one kid who is usually up there and always trys to give me a hard time was there. He was on his usual ego trip when I told him to stfu and just race me.
He was on a older Santa Cruz v10 that his parents bought him, his upgrades and gear all parent funded, bike must have been $12,000 with all the upgrades. I was on my Zulu.
We werent set to race that day, it was just time trials, but they were doing staggard starts, and it just so happened they set him up on the same trail as me, 2 minutes ahead of me. In my mind it wasnt a race, but the last person accross the line was the loser, the buzzer goes and he's off. I wait my turn, buzzer goes and I'm off in top gear, and I intend on keeping it there.
I hit the chute and an ungodly rate of speed, launch the step down and slingshot into a burm, wheelie out of the burm to gain speed, one foot flatty another step down. Then music comes on, Marilyn Manson: the Reflecting God. I just mash my big rig as hard as I can, he's around 200feet ahead of me, I have him set in my crosshairs. He glances back, see's me and upshifts while mashing, his chain skips and he loses valuable seconds, I tuck and roll over a ride down, He slingshots a wallride infront of me.
*****, I cant pass him on a wallride, I have to slow down, or do I...
I rail the wallride ABOVE him, pedals could have touched while horrizontal, luckily they didnt.
*****, how do I get off of the wallride from this height!!
I preload while on there and drop down, sniped a downhill tranny, now that that part is done and I'm passed him, my goal is complete, but now I gotta put lemon in the wound and beat him by ALOT. I tucked in the straight stretch, hit a wood gap over to the road, rail a burm on the road, again wheelie out and crank a maual down to the finish line, about 500 feet down the hill.
I beat him by over a minute and he started two minutes before me. When he finished we shook hands and were on our ways.
