Thank you for your diligence in keeping the spoilers in check as much as possible.

For me (busy guy, Busy family) I had a hard time keeping up. This past friday I found myself 3 days behind (the toughest 3 days to be behind on). I finally caught up friday night and it was nice to see it without having been spoiled.

I know you took some heat for the effort. But it was appreciated.

That said I still had to basically stay off the boards. People were posting spoiler threads not only here but road biking and road bike racing as well. I got caught up on A&S, commuting etc though.

Thanks in general from me too! Thanks also for that unenviable task of policing for spoilers! The sticky stage threads are a very good idea and work well!

Joe founded the Forums, and does the hard work of keeping things running on the technical side...sort of the "Daddy" figure. Koffee has been the spirit and heart of the Forums the past several years...sort of the "Mommy" figure. Recent rumors the "Daddy" and "Mommy" are disagreeing with each other can only be bad for us kids. Very, very bad.

Is it just me or does anyone else find that whole Daddy / Mummy thing is just a little bit creepy? :D

If I bought into it, it would.

IMO the mommy/daddy analogy is really a very simplistic way of looking at things. I have a lot of respect for Joe, and while I certainly appreciate the many things that Koffee added to BF, I know from personal experience that she had her bad days, and had the knack of rubbing folks the wrong way on those bad days. Certainly, the recent straws that broke the proverbial camel's back were a result of mutual provocation, but had this been the first incident, I'm pretty sure that Joe (being the nice, and level-headed gent that he obviously is) wouldn't have taken the step that he did.

I'd be glad to see Koffee come back, but I have to say that I think Joe did the best thing under the circumstances.

Yeah, when an average member of BikeForums (a young, white male) posts something that is racist, sexist, classist, it is just "yuks" for most members. And, if Koffee points out an offensive post, "she is having a bad day".

It is clear why most women interested in cycling, and most members of a minority race who are interested in cycling would NOT enjoy being a member of BikeForums. A Forum that finds the Aussie members, and their views "amusing", and finds Koffee to be offensive is doomed to remain a playpen dominated by immature white boys.

Most internet Forums are a waste of time and bandwidth. Ignorant people, pooling their ignorance. Koffee contributed more intelligent, well-informed posts over the past several years than any other member of the Forums. And, that sort of post has been increasing rare over the past few months, as the best members have been drifting away, one by one.

I'm relatively new here, but still sad to Koffee go. Best of luck to her.

With due respect alan,

You are tossing snippets of posts into a blender and arriving at a rather polarized/polarizing perspective that (IMO) isn't taking some things into account. I'd also have to ask why you haven't taken up your issues up with Joe if you feel so strongly?

ps - I'd prefer you PM me if you wish to continue this.

I find your post pretty offensive, and I'm not even a white male.

I am not a white male (I am a black male)...Koffee is gone...I will deal with it. It was a shame it had to happen, but I do think it had to happen. Had I been a mod and exhibited the same type of conduct, of which she was guilty on more than a few occasions, I would not have been surprised to have had my star removed (I may not have liked it though). I also do not think I would be the least bit comfortable in returning as a regular member. Koffee does not strike me as the type of woman to come crawling back with her tail between her legs, begging forgiveness. Perhaps she was having outside issues and if that is the case, it is a shame.

Cheers,

Brian

When I try and access this link it says I don't have permission. Looks like one of our threads. Is the link right?
