I'm considering traveling to Poipu, Kauai. Should I bring my road bike?
Good roads? Traffic? Etc?
Thanks,
Nacho

Dang, that sounds like a tough choice.

I had this same delima last year. The cost of a travel case was a couple of hundred bucks plus 80 bucks each way. I ended up renting a bike for alot less money in Maui.
I wish I could help you on the road conditions and traffic in Kauai. Make sure you bring your camera to share with the BF members.

I'll go into work tomorrow and check on rental prices/bikes for the shops in Kauai. I know we keep a folder full of info for all the other islands.

If you ride DF why pack your pride & joy when you can rent a decent bike in Kauai? Security for your bike may be less than ideal at your hotel or condo. In any event, riding there will be nice. Some areas have traffic but on the whole, You'll enjoy it. bk

Because I have to justify my Trico Bike Case carrier to my wife! :D

Ah Poipu, my wife and I stayed there for our wedding/honeymoon. It is a wonderful place.

Had I been into cycling at that time, I probably would have wanted to take my bike.

If I went back, I probably would not take my bike provided I could rent a decent on there, which I believe you can.

But if you have the case, I say go for it. I can't imagine better scenery in which to ride. I would have loved to ride through the tree tunnel on the way to Poipu from east side.

I'm sure you may have been a little too *busy* to do much biking on your honeymoon. :p
