I have heard rumors that the Chicago will be fixing up some old elevated freight railroad tracks into a bicycle path that runs a good chunk of the length of the city. These tracks are on the west side and run north-south...if this plan/rumor is true then this would provide cyclists with a great opportunity for reaching the north side without risking life and limb...has anyone heard any detials about this?
I also heard (from the same bird) that NYC has similar paths...similar meaning converted elevated railroad tracks into bike paths...am I misinformed?
I'd love to read about these plans...any info or direction will be greatly appreciated.
ciao.
