How come no one is using these boards?
There must be something worth mentioning about a triathlon.

Yes, not nearly as active as we were last year, are we?
I, for one, haven't been racing. A knee problem prevented me from running for quite a while and I just haven't gotten back into running shape. I'm still biking and swimming a lot... just no running, and no competing. I might sign up for a sprint (same one as I did last year) but I haven't decided. Wish they had more open water swims here. I'm kinda missing San Diego for that reason... :(

I am planning on a fdoing a Tri next month, my first since 1991.
The H.O.T. Olympic distance in Jacksonville, Florida. It is held at Camp Blanding.
Good Luck!!! Keep us posted.
I'm sorry. I should post my race report from the July Tri for Fun. I'm going to race again the week after next and then my "A" race is the Triathlon at Pacific Grove on September 9.
I'm still tweaking the set up on my tri bike.
I'm doing one Sunday. Chisago Lakes Triathlon.

I ran my first big tri on Sunday...... 2:34: 04 for my first olympic. I was just hoping to finish under 3:30
Ko Olina in October, and an Xterra next month, I'm stoked to jump in head first.
I have been on the roadbike section of the forums and forgot where I came from. The only reason I hang out over there because there is SOOO much more activity over there. I ran my first Oly on July 9th it went pretty well. Despite being hit by a car 2 days before I still clocked in a 2:27... Fairly impressive since I was on speed play pedals from some one elses bike (because mine got wadded up in the crash.) with no cleats. I almost crashed 2x and one of them I was so close it was crazy I got appauded by the rider behind me.
I have my Half Iron on Sept 10th and I am thinking about doing Ironman Australia on April 1st.
My season has been great, I'm working on a website/training log, which I'll pull stuff off of and post my thoughts on when it's ready.
So far this season I have had two or three age group wins(overall placing - 5th, 6th and 11th but there were something like 4 pros in the race; in those three races) and once I place second in my age group (10th overall). I have two races left, my next race is more or less my A race and will determine where I ended up this year, and will allow me to compare.

I finished my "A" race for the year 3 weeks ago. It went great, I hit a PR and shaved a good 2 minutes plus off my last year's time. Top ten swim and T1 and improved bike, T2 and run over last year made for a very satisfying race. This year was the first that I left my shoes on my pedals for T1 and T2 and I'll never go back....this cut well over a minute between the two transitions, especially coming out of T1.
Last weekend was my other big race, albeit non-triathlon. It was my first trip to the Lake Minnetonka Challenge, a 5 mile 'shore to shore' open water swim race. Although a half hour off the winner's time, I hit my goal with a 2 hr 27 minute time. Being a little too hefty to train for marathon's and such, this was my marathon equivalent race. 2 races and goals met on both accounts equals a very nice summer. Unfortunately, due to weekend work conflicts my competitve season looks to be at it's end. Now it's all about dropping more weight....I've got a deal with the Mrs, if I hit my goal weight I can get any Tri bike my little heart desires. Not too shabby.
Race on, for those of us left behind!
That's pretty impressive swim time for 5 miles.
What??? The season is over? I just did my very first tri in June and I have three planned next month. Albeit they are sprint ones. Ssshhhh, seems like I'm a newbie just peaking late...
Another tri this weekend, my best finish ever. I cut about 3 minutes from last year, 2 in the swim despite it being a little longer and 1 in the run which was crazy.

Great Job Tri-Guy!!
I wanted to do one the weekend of the 27th. While my swim and bike are strong, I am not sure I am ready for a 10K run yet. So i might have to choose a sprint, which will be a couple weeks later.
Will be good to do a race again, after not doing one in quite some time!
Also, I bought a Madone 5.2 on Saturday, so I am stoked to get it on a closed course to really hammer a fast time!
You got the Madone I am damn jealous...

Jstyle,
I see you are in Springfield. I was in Woodbridge until June. Now in FLorida. I used to like being able to go to the Performance store. I would always print the sale prices off the internet, and they always honored them. Hard to find good places to ride around there. I always did my riding on the base at Quantico.
Damn that is a good deal I have always gone to the Perfomance in Springfield but I would make the drive to Woodbridge for that.
I ran the Half Marathon down in Quantico but I haven't even tried to find a bike trail down there. What course did you ride or how did that work?

there is an 8-mile loop on the main side of Quantico, it goes from the main road, up the hill to the elementary school, around to the exchange, and then back down the main road. I normally did that for three laps, or also you can exit the main area, and go over to the FBI Academy side. Lots of long roads over there too, with little traffic.

Earlier in this thread, I mentioned I might do the H.O.T. Olympic distance race in Jacksonville.
The race is next weekend, and Unfortunately, I dont think I am ready. The swim and the bike would be no problem, but the 10K run is probably not a reality right now. I am sure I could finish it, but with some short walking-breaks in it, and I dont want to do that.
It sucks, because the race is right here where I live. Some Sprint distances coming up in the next couple weeks, but they are over on the gulf coast. :(
As for those races, I have looked at previous years results, and am not too impressed wioth the guys in the Clydesdale groups. (Yes, I am a Clyde right now.) In many of them, I am sure I could have placed in the top 3.
Oh well, hope everyone else is doing well!
Yes, Triathlon season is now over for me...
Last race this weekend. PRed. Won my AG. Didn't have the race I could have but I would call today a major success. There is still those 2 minutes I need to find, today it was in nutrition and smart racing. I swam minutes faster than last year. I should be able to make about 1/2 as much improvement by next year which will put me in the top swim pack.
I'm going to get a slew of motivational stuff in my cubicle and start working on a training plan for next year. I'm excited about ending my year, 4 Age group wins, overall podium a couple of times, almost consistently top ten overall.
I'll probably setup a goals thread in a few days so thin abou what you guys want for next year....
