Introductions - Back on the bike after a long layoff

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi, just found the forum and it's already been valuable.
I'm back on a bike after a self-imposed hiatus (three children five years and under have played some part in that:rolleyes: ).
Located in Melbourne, Australia. Sold my old Shogun Katana recently and am now riding a venerable Cannondale R300 triple with RSX, which I'm enjoying. May upgrade once I get fitter, as I'm currently VERY slow. Preparing for Around The Bay in a Day in October and commuting to the office.
Welcome, Dilettante! Good to hear you're back on the bike -- you might want to look at the Recreational and Family threads for tips on how to work those three children into your biking, rather than having them stand in the way :)
If you're thinking of bike commuting, you'll likely find the threads devoted to that particular obsession very helpful.
G'day mate, or Howdy if translated to Texan, and welcome. Tons of info to be found here. I have boys 5 and 2 years old and have been back on the bike for a bit over a year now. It comes back slow but leaves fast if you get back off. I find that if I ride 3 times per week I do fine, but take a week or two off and I loose a lot of fitness rapidly. Good luck.

Hauling the kids around in a trailer will boost your fitness to the point where you'll be able to ride around the bay in an hour. Welcome to BF!
