Jan Ullrich is reportedly in talks with Discovery Channel after it emerged that the German will have one last pop at Tour de France glory. Ullrich was fired by his team T-Mobile last Friday following his implication in the recent Spanish doping scandal 'Operacion Puerto'.
Go figure.

Makes sense...of course I would think Disco and every other team wouldn't sign him until he is cleared of the OP charges.

If he gets signed by disco, Levi is going to crap in his shoes.
That's a great PR move for Disco--It sounds like The Jan is one of the most heavily implicated in the Puerto thing, and now LA's former team is going to pick him up?
I'm sure the great uniballed one will be so happy about what that would do to his image...

Except Uniball doesn't have much to do with Disco Riders now, though? He was off accepting awards, giving talks, on TV while his team from just one year ago were in "his" race. Though the team is a bit different already only one year later.
Maybe Disco Riders is giving The Jan some "assurances" pending his bloodwork cleanliness. But I don't really keep up with all the dope soap operas.
I still think The Jan has another really good year, with a TdF win in him.

Lance is a part owner of the Discovery Channel team. He has a say in everything.

I apologize. I didn't know he's part owner. I just don't keep up with the ownership/management details of sports. It just seems to be all politics and takes away from the fun of the sport for me. Is there anything else I'm missing about this?

Jan Ullrich on Disco? That would be bad***** IMO. Pair him up with Levi and George and you are starting to get a decent team now!

Maybe Uniball would want The Jan on the team just to show the world (or the French) that riders are innocent until proven guilty?

With The Jan as leader and Levi and George doing pulls for him? I doubt they would be interested. But Axel Merckx! And whatever happened to Marco Velo?
This is great, the could get the dope from Lance's US source for Ullrich.
Sorry, but Ullrich had the chance to prove his innocence when he refused a DNA test to exclude his blood from the bags found in Spain. Once the prosecutors subpoena Ullrich's DNA, he's busted for good, along with Basso.
This reminds me of Hamilton, who constantly refused tests that could prove innocence

Yeah, if this was 2002, things would look rosy with that line-up.
Checking the calendar, I see that next year is 2007.... they're not all going to race to 40 like Eki. Eki's a monster.
