Just got back from a business trip out west. I drove from Austin to San Francisco and back. Not being afraid of mixing business with pleasure, I temporarily hired two of my riding buddies to help out with the event and we loaded up some bikes and hit the road. On the course of our trip, we hit four fundamentally different rides in the American West.

First stop: South Mountain, Phoenix (http://www.anthonysloan.com/South_Mountain,_Feb_2003.html)

Then: Montana de Oro, San Luis Obispo (http://www.anthonysloan.com/San_Luis_Obispo,_Feb__2003.html)

Then: Soquel Demo Forest, near Santa Cruz (http://www.anthonysloan.com/Soquel_Demo_Forest,_Feb__2003.html)

And finally: Sedona (http://www.anthonysloan.com/Sedona,_Feb_2003.html)

I'm envious! Nice shots. I'm most envious of the Sedona trip. That's on my "Must-Do" list.

When I lived in Phoenix I would ride S. Mtn every day. There are so many diff trails there it was a fun place to ride. That is where I first started MTB'ing in '89. The cool thing about it back then was the fact that there were a total of four or five mtb'ers in Phoenix. The trails were empty except for the ocasional reptile.

Sounds like you had a great trip.

Very cool. The Soquel Demo Forest, near Santa Cruz seems like the place i'd most want to ride at. Any spills?

Sedona is probably the place I want to ride the most. I was in the area once, but didn't have the time to ride it :(
