So yeah, how's yer day been? I'm just hanging out, trying to get some work done and being totally distracted with, well, everything else. Sigh. So anyhoo. Whatcha doin tonight? Got big plans this weekend? I just said okay to participating in the Subaru Urban Assault Race on Sunday (http://www.urbanassaultrace.com/denver.php) --gonna do it with the girl I just started seeing, so this will make or break it m'thinks. That sounds fun! Have a great time Dex and Dex's girl.
No plans yet for this weekend. I'm going to Tennessee next weekend so will probably go cycling with the kidlet (which means -mph - but that's okay)....though her daddy has been talking about taking her hiking so maybe it'll be me alone. Right now, I'm burning work time and waiting to meet DLO at the eye doctor though FIL says he's not going to allow us to go there. OH THE DRAMA. Remains to be seen what he has planned and what the heck makes him think it'll work.
Hi superdex.
Tonight? Work, eat, sleep. The usual. I should send off my payment for my cable bill, too.
This weekend? Work Saturday, as usual. If I'm lucky, maybe my new bike will be ready for fitting on Saturday afternoon. I don't think that will be the case, though. Team Estrogen bike ride on Sunday.

Just getting a ton of stuff done today at work. Its been a pretty good day today it has finally cooled down here.
This weekend just a lot of riding getting ready to do the RSVP next weekend. My brother is coming up from San DIego to join me. We are going to do some serious partying in Vancouver when we get there. We do not get a chance to drink beer, smoke cigars and tell lies together that much any more. Should be a lot of fun

<----- waves> Hey Dex! :)
howdy. I have managed to avoid almost all work today..... go me! no plans for the weekend yet.
Well, the AC went out which contributed to one of the switches overheating, most people lost connection. I thought I fixed it all, but it appeared to be a compound problem because now people weren't leasing IPs from the DHCP server at all. After determining the router or switch wasn't the issue, I fell back onto unplugging and replugging everything back in. Wouldn't you know it, it worked
!!WTF!!
In any case, I saw Clerks 2 so now I'm happy again.
Speaking of tandem kayaks, I went kayaking for the first time with mirona's mom (also a first-timer) today and it was awesome! We had a rental but I think I'm going to buy one. Tonight, I'm going to make reservations for the Lancaster ride unless I fall asleep. Chances are that I'm going to fall asleep :D
i just had my last day at wendy's for the summer, saturday i move, and tonight i will play star ocean on my pc....
tommorow i will try out some wachovia checking and mount my fenders.... and wash my clothes... i keep forgetting that.

Don't act all overly competitive and be yelling at her to keep up and hustle during the race. I saw that just crossing the GW bridge once and it was just a couple out for a nice ride and the dude was yelling at her to "get tough".
No plans for the weekend excep the honeydew list.

Sweet! What kind of kayaking did you do? We just went down a river with some teeny rapids and still managed to roll it :p I'll be icing the knee for a while. No one told me there were rocks in the river! ;)

If I know this young lady at all, she'll be yelling at me to take it more seriously -- she's doing the Livestrong ride in August, and though it's not a race of any kind, she wants to "place" in the top ten of her age group. Needless to say she's a little competitive. Should be a good time :roflmao:

Icing the knee is why I'm paddling... wah
I enjoyed a bit of a lake paddle on a sit-on-top kayak. No rapids, not even the teeny sort, but had to out paddle a big thunderhead and bit of a sprinkle. By the time I made it back to the dock, the storm passed and I paddled for another half hour. I may even go for something a little more challenging this weekend :D
I went running lastnight. GOD running sucks. Going to Leadville this weekend, it will be much cooler up there then down in Denver. Other then that not much going on. Mountain biking tonight.
Goodluck with your ride S.dex and I know you will score high with your new girl!!!

I met up with an old buddy to see Clerks 2 last night. We decided that the wives did not need to see such filth-flarn-filth. As expected, the movie was so-so. Too many attempts at a sappy plot-line really slowed it down, but there was enough reference back to the original classic to make it worth the while. The ending was perfect and brought it all full circle.
Oh yeah, and I had a beer at a bar before hand! I know, I know, that's not that exciting, but with two young'uns at home, it's been a LONG time since I sat at a bar and knocked back a pint.... :)

Heyas!
Most of the nest week will be playing Half-life 2 and the "expansion" that was just recently released.
HL2 is an awesome game....pretty much pure adrenaline from the get-go.

so I was talking to NewGirl last night, I mentioned that I was being teased to not be so aggro during the race, to which she replied, "Oh no, I want to win the f--ker" :roflmao: So yeah, we're gonna have fun...

She definitely has me on the line, as it were. I'm putting up a little bit of a struggle; I can't let her think I'm just rolled over and hers. There's no game in that. Gotta earn it, y'know? So far so good...
(of course, this is how I roll. I get excited for a couple-few weeks and then the balloon pops. Good times)

Have fun at the Subaru StressFest this weekend!
As for me, well, I have the fun, drama, black comedy of driving to my parents house (87 miles each way) on mons, weds and fridays. My mother is in a nursing home--temporarily?--and being pretty pathetic with her PT, and my father is being selfish and pathetic at home, demanding everybody do everything for him. They've been sitting aorund ever since they retired doing nothing with themselves, but now they resent the idea that they may die soon. The whole thing is really rather complex, which is sucking the life out of me. Any suggestions from anybody with experience in this would be appreciated.

holy sht gary, I'm sorry. I wish I had something insightful to say, but my folks are still kicking around, waiting for retirement (eg. I"m not in your place yet). So, HUGS. Hang in there, what you're doing is a tremendous act of Love--

And superdex and ivosarrian, well, what can I say? Love is pretty strong language around my family and we don't use it too freely! We've had a couple of family conferences already, and it seems, well I'm not quite sure what it seems like. AAAHHHH!!! I never really know what to expect from one day to the next. And I try to explain to my wife, but I'm afraid to go into too much detail for fears that she's looking at me thinking that I'm the product of them! And my mother-in-law is visiting right now from out of town and she's the exact opposite, just peaceful and happy.
Thanks, folks!
Sounds to me, Gary, like your father needs a good swift kick in the nuts!
If you stop enabling him, sooner or later he'll get hungry and feed himself and he'll run out of clean clothes and do the laundry. Co-dependent relationships are unhealthy for everyone.
smellygary
07-27-06, 07:32 AM
And thats exactly what it is, enabling both of them to be that way. But I'm not seeing the "co" in the dependency. I'm not sure what I'm getting out of it, except that I'm fulfilling some sort of familial obligation. Cuz theres never been a whole lotta love.
And hes been needing a swift kick for a long time.

And now I'M being the whiney cry baby, just like them! I jus need to suck it up and be an adult for for them, and get them in a place that everybody is satisfied with, and take a big step back.
Thanks for listeneing to me whine.
Have fun on Saturday, Superdex!
