In the middle of the TDF, before Floyd bonked then did his miracle recovery, I was riding my northerly route in San Diego along the bike path from Mission Bay Drive to Damon Avenue. The path is paved, narrow and sandwiched between an urban creek and a wire fence behind an industrial area. There is a section where homeless people hang out within a few feet of the path. They are usually pretty mellow and if I say hello or nod they usually give a reply. I stopped under a tree for a swig from the water bottle and a quick stretch right next to two guys who looked like they had not had a change of clothes or a bath for a while. They had a couple of homeless guy bicycles with what looked like everything they owned on the bikes. One guy was explaining in detail to the other guy who Floyd Landis is and why Floyd was going to win the TDF.
