Thanks so much to everyone who has posted about teaching adults to ride.
Remove the pedals and lower the seat all the way down- it really works!!!!!
We did the 'walking' practice for about 5 1-hour sessions and then I put the
pedals on and raised the seat an inch. We now practice every couple days
riding in the nearby high school parking lot. She still has a long way to go
but can ride on her own steam for up to 5 minutes at a time without stopping
to put a foot on the ground and get her bearings.
PS- shes 32. ;) you can teach an old dog new tricks
