I an novice who has bought his first folding bike yesterday. The bike has come with Kenda 16 x 1.75 nylon tyres which states 40 PSI (2.8 kgf/m2 280KPa) 47-305 on each tyre. I weigh 64kgs and would be travelling on city roads only, so what optimal tyre pressure should I maintain on both front and rear tyre?
Thanks in advance,

40 lbs is not much .... at least put 40 lbs into the tire .....
down the road you might want to look into something a little better

You should never over inflate a tire, so I would not go higher than 40lbs. I would suggest that you try varying the pressure down a bit, if the ride feels harsh, or if the tires wash out on gravel or rough surfaces.

sure .... not what I said either ... Dont put 50 lbs into a 40 lbs tire.... But be sure to have really 40 lbs in them , otherwise the rolling resisastance will be awfull
( and make sure that whatever gauge you measure the 40 is pretty accurate ... lotsa cheap gauges are really all over ...)

If it were me, I would swop those tyres. Get yourself some Primo Comets (better rolling resistance, lighter, and can take a lot more psi). If you wanted something a little more durable, perhaps Schwalbe Marathons.
Maxxis also used to do tryes in the 305 size - it might be worth looking around.

Thanks for the suggestions buddies. I shall try the tyres tomorrow and if dont find them great will change them into something better as suggested by you.
