Mountain Biking - AWD bike

I seem to remember there being a thread about it a while back and was wondering if anyone has ridden one of these. Seems like a cool idea on paper.

$1200 for that POS? That thing cant weigh less than 40lbs

its a good thing to share, honestly its a Jeep. I have never tried a Jeep. If Cannondale or some better company comes out with this idea, I might go for a test ride.

Yeah, it's nothing great or lightweight. However the concept seems cool. I just wince at the thought of getting mud and sand into the gears of that thing.

It's old technology now. There have been a few kinds. The jeep is private labeled. They have been written up in bike magazines. There's nothing really good about them.

I love how they list no-name components in the spec list, but the second pic when you scroll down shows it with Hayes Sole brakes and Deore shift levers. Bait and switch?

LMFAO then it shows you mechanical disc's in the last picture. And it lists that it has EZ fire shifters and the handlebars are "Kalloy" not TruVativ

I have friends who swear by them. Personally, I just can't pegg what people see in Jeeps. Every one that I've driven handled badly and was slow (even the V8) and clumsy. On top of it the build quality isn't all that great.

I think that's the dumbest concept I've ever seen. :eek:

It's more of a gimmick for those that don't know enough about bikes. To the average Joe this could look like a revolutional step forward in bicycles, and he would race to buy one first.

I like mine because it's all paid off :) and it gets me from A to far away B... albeit slowly and clumsily.

He would give me the same look that he gave me when I brought him my back wheel to be trued after a weekend of riding through Boston.

I'm sure that it moves...... but running off-road (the whole reason for a Jeep) on low profile tires won't work too well. That and running a quarter mile in that probably eats a quarter of the tank :).

Well I dont' know about the Jeep but my LBS is a Christini dealer. Christini makes AWD bicycles and motorcycles...never ridden one but they do have one in stock and it has been there for several years (2 or 3 maybe) so if anyone wants a smoking deal I would bet you could get one on it. People love to spin the crank and love to watch both wheels go.

The Jeep bikes are Christini's. They have been ridden and reviewed in bike mags. They are a little slow and heavy and the only good thing about the awd is it goes a little straighter in the sand. That's why it has been there so long.
