You guys ever see the new Trek Catalogue? I have it here at my desk for like a few months now. I have read it at least 30 times. I just stare at the bikes over and over again. I must be nuts. I just looked at it now.

I can honestly say I have NEVER even looked at a Trek catalog, much less wasted hours looking at one!
(Now the web site at www.fujibikes.com is a whole 'nuther story!!:D That and the fact that I don't have a Trek catalog to drool over!!):D :D
Trekn, if you are crazy, I think you have a lot of good company here! Come to think of it...lock us all away with our catalogs and bikes....padded rooms to play in....acres and acres of nice grass...concrete bike trails...kinda sounds like the Bikeforums Community in another string, doesn't it!?

nebill, Fuji bikes are cool. I just checked out the website, and if I didn't have my mind set on buying a Raleigh, I would think about becoming a Fuji dude myself.

Hi Ya AF!
Yeah, I really like my Fujis! Being a newbie, in all honesty, they are all I have ever ridden, but I am sure that some of those other brands might come close to the quality of my bikes!!:D (Am I proud, or what!?!) I really have been happy with them, though. They both ride nice, and have the ability to perform way beyond my current capacity (although I am still working on that!)

Trekn, I work for an ISP, so playing on the 'net is what I get to do all day! Ain't life grand!?

I've looked through the Litespeed catalog several dozen times. I've even sent a few "loveletter" emails to them.
Now that I own one (it's almost two months old), I wear my Litespeed "polo" shirt to work at least once a week. And yes, I still have the catalog to look through and a bookmark for their website. (http://www.litespeed.com/html/road/road.html)

Tuscany, Tuscany, rah, rah, rah!!!

Well Trekn,
there's nothing wrong with looking at those cataloques, but if you start buying all the thing on the catalogues, then for sure your gonna be in trouble with the wifey or maybe not .....

I also have a file box full of catalogs from Performance, excelsports, pricepoint, colorado cyclist, supergo, Nashbar hasn't sent me a catalog yet and its kinda making me mad. Sometimes I'll be rocking my little sister in the family La-z-Boy and I'll send one of my brothers for my "bike stuff" box.
The other day my boss gave me some Power Grip pedals, when I got home I had two priorities: 1st, I had to go to the bathroom, 2nd, I wanted to get the new pedals on my bike. But I didn't want to wait to do either. So my solution? I grabbed a few tools, the pedals,my bike and headed for the bathroom. Talk about crazy!!!

Well, I guess I'll need a tool chest and a bike stand too. Maybe I'll get in BIKE magazine as the most efficient mechanic of all time.

I have a subscription with Bicycling and regularly buy from the bookstore Procycling and Cycle Sport, and and Colorado Cyclist and Excel Sport they send catalogue to me, but as soon as they start filing up in my living room, I just give them up to the Medical clinic in my neighborhood, that way I might be able to encourage some sickly people in the cycling sport......

I actualy just gave almost 15 bike, mountain bike action, and bicycle magazines to the front desk at work last week. When i went to pickup a magazine to read today at work, i noticed all my cycling magazines were gone, im sure i have atleast one person interested in cycling now :)

Well you may think you are nuts, but I am going to purchase one of my dream bikes this coming winter. I am going to lay down about $3800 for a Klein Quantum Pro. I though my Cannondale was responsive and quick in take offs but then those mean LBS people put me on a Klein and that was all she wrote. They way I look at it, and the only way I can justify it, is after 31 years of riding (Oh I am including my tricycling days when I was 3) I simply deserve one. I think.

Trekn
06-19-01, 09:28 AM
Go for it! no matter what you may think the day after or the day after that. In the long run it wouldn't of mattered if you'd spent 10,000, it's only money.. live it up.

Kleins are awesome bikes, not a cool as Fishers but still cool.

Cheryl
06-20-01, 07:07 AM
OK female input.

We have every issue of Bicycling from Jan of '97.

We get Nashbar, Colorado Cyclist, Performance, SierraTrading(good deals, esp. wicking Tees) Campmor(we are more than biking) And every other catalogue on the planet. I cycle through them and keep the newest. (pun intended)
I have them stratigically placed throughout the house in baskets. Just about every room has at least one basket. The toilet tank has a 2' stack on it.

We also subscribe to Outside and Mountain.

HELP!!:( :( :( :(

Cheryl, I'm afraid you have the outdoor/cyclist bug really, really bad:D :D :D

To Fubar5.....I will beg to differ my friend. Fishers are cool bikes but still not in the same class as Kleins. The reason is how they are cut and assembled. Ive been on a ton, not all, of road bikes and I must say the ride is very different.

To Cheryl....If I were you, I would get rid of most of the back issues, especially Nashbar and Campmor. They havent changed much in the past couple of years.

Cheryl....sounds to me like you are pretty normal. (At least by my definition!) When you ask for help, do you need more ideas for magazines/catalogs to add to your already impressive list??:D Have fun, that is what it is all about!!

TLN,
Fisher MTB's(thats all they make) are way cooler than Klein MTB's(my opinion!!don't take offense anybody!!), but as far as Roadie, Fisher can't compete!!!!:D :D :D :D
You are looking at a road bike, I didn't notice that the first time I read you post. I am sure that the Klein Quantum Pro is an awesome bike!!!

Peace

Drooling over a Trek catalogue? Well I guess it is true, it does take all kinds. LOL Just kidding Trekn. If you really want to drool give me your address and I will send you one of my extra Kona catalogues. Or just check out www.konaworld.com (www.konaworld.com)

So Cheryl...are you saying that there is something abnormal with having biking and outdoor magazines all over the house?

The Klein paint jobs on their road and mountain bikes are works of arts. A friend of mine bought a Klein mountain bike a year ago and I have to say that its one of the most beautiful frames I've ever seen. I hope Trek doesn't water down the brand.

That said, Trek owns Klein, Bontrager, Gary Fisher, and Lemond hence why the brands share many of the components and some of the same bike designs.

One cool thing about Klein is that they get to use their own tubing. Trek and Gary Fisher use the same.

I actually saw a Gary Fisher road bike last year. A rider in full Gary Fisher colors was riding a road bike with a Gary Fisher logo. Could've been a Team Fisher rider.

fubar5
06-21-01, 12:28 PM
As far as I know Fisher doesn't make Road bikes. Fisher owns Trek, not Trek owns Fisher. Gary designs them all baby!!!

Joe Pozer
06-21-01, 12:39 PM
No, Fisher does not officially make Road Bikes but this could've been a special made bike for a Team Rider.

Sorry to disappoint Fubar, but the Trek corporation own Gary Fisher, along with the others I mentioned in my previous post.

Yes, Gary is still very involved in the design of bikes. In fact, Fisher has a 29" wheel bike coming out in which he had great input. He rode a 29" wheel bike at the Masters World championships a couple of years ago.

Cheryl,
Could Rainbabe come stay with you for a while? Maybe you could get her indoctrinated to cycling and cycling mags. She keeps insisting that I get ride of some magazines when the pile becomes unstable and keeps falling over. :)

Yes you are right. Trek OWNS those companies that you have mentioned. The one thing that Trek is doing right....and I hope to god that they stay that way too....is telling their purchased companies not to change anything in their manufacturing techniques. Build as you have been building and dont change. I know for a fact that is what they have told Klein. I think Trek is smart enough, hopefully, to know when they have a good thing ...unlike some other manufacturer buy-outs.

Then the dang bike shop dude lied to me darnit.

Yeah, I don't know what to think of the 29'' wheel idea.It seems like the extra 3'' would make the bike sit higher. But they will probably make special forks and stuff to make the bikes with 29'' wheels the same height/size as 26''.

Joe Pozer
06-22-01, 11:05 AM
Now you can set the shop guy straight.

I'm not sure about 29" inch wheels either. I think Manitou is the only manufacturer making a fork that will fit the 29" wheels. You are limited to your fork choices plus if you snap the fork, I wonder how long would it take to get a replacement.

Yeah, I guess availability would have to be based upon how well the 29'' wheels sell. My bet is that they don't, I don't know why I say that, but I say it anyway. Maybe if I wallow in denial it will make the 29'' sell well.
