i would like to upgrade my bike. it is a GT LTS-2. its kinda old but im in love with it and wont ever give it up. im also kinda short on cash, so a new bike is out of the question.

what is a good upgrade for my bike?

Get rid of that seat! Also, get a different fork. An old Marzocchi would work, and should be cheap to buy used. Replace other parts as you break them.

Depending on how much it has been used, new chain rings, casette and a chain would help.

whats wrong with the bike. Looks mechanically sound.

Ride it till it dies. No need to spend extra cash where it is not needed.

Nothing is wrong with the saddle, except it's heavy and makes you look like a fred. The forks need to go, Quadra21R's weren't very good to begin with .You might want to turn your front skewer around.

i would like to change the fork and will probably have to replace the derailer.... i took quite a fall today and i dont know if i will be able to bend it back. could you guys please recomend a mid range fork? will any fork work with my bike?

Try to match the one you've got.

As far as upgrading, a new fork would be a great suggestion. I wouldn't suggest one with long travel. Since your frame was designed around a fork with 70 to 80 mm of travel. (That was a lot back then!). I'd stick to one with 80 to 100 mm of travel. If you can find an adjustable travel fork that's the way to go.

MonkeySith, although a new fork would be nice, you'd probably be better served to use those upgrade funds to start saving for a new bike.
