I've been thinking about putting a Suntour Ultra 6 freewheel
on my wife's Eisentraut. I figure this might be a good way
to get an extra gear without having to coldset a 28 year
old frame.
Question is, I can find the Freewheels, but not the ULTRA6
chains. Does anyone know of a contemporary chain that
will work with the ultra design (which had smaller spacers
(and cogs?) to allow 6 speeds in 120mm frame spread)?

Thanks in advance,

Marty

see Sheldon or Thirdhand.

It's the same as an 8-speed chain.

D'Alex

thanks.

Roadie, I knew about the spacing etc. from Sheldon
not sure which chain would be correct i.e. 8 speed etc.

thanks,
Marty

Why worry about coldsetting? I've done many, 30+ yrs old even.
Good, long lasting results!!!

( I DO understand your hesitance though)

Just get an inexpensive Sachs/Sedis 8 spd- it should work fine, if you do get the ultra 6.
