I am going out on vacation starting in 58 minutes from now. I will be at the beach in the Outer Banks, N.C. I have been looking forward to it for a while now. It will just be nice to not be at work and everything. Now this is the part where my family thinks I am nuts, I am bringing my own duffel bags of work out stuff and my tri bike. I am one of those types of guys that thinks if I don't stay with my regiment then my muscles will just turn to mush... I have worked to hard and long for the HIM I have on Sept 10th and the Full in April 07.

I don't plan on being 100% at the beach but I am not going to let it just lax. I will prolly hit 2 different 10 mile runs on the weekend a good half century on the bike in the middle of the week and a few little 30-45 minute high intesity runs/bikes/bricks.

I don't think I am the only one that is like this but I could use some encouragement :D

I'm the same way. On 99% of the trips I take I get workouts in. I may move them to early morning to make room for the other planned activities that day, but my wife and daughter now think it's unusual if I don't work out.

I live in Missouri. Went to Florida last week for a full week of vacation. We had a condo on the beach. I rented a bike and rode 3 mornings. I ran on the beach 2x and did 2 40 minute long ocean swims. Vacation should be enjoyable. I enjoyed my rides, runs and swims immensely. My wife wasn't surprised. Her family (who was in another condo) was like "its vacation, why are you getting up at 5:30 in the morning to go exercise - you are nuts." Well, they are all very fat and not a single one of them could run more than 50 feet, so f*&% them. Its them who are crazy.

You could schedule your hard workouts before and after your vacation, or use your vacation as a rest week.

Hmm.. I think I see my problem. I vacation too much. :D

Have fun! Remember, if you can't train harder, you can always outrest them. :)

Not posting on a palmtop from the registration tent? Amateur!

Taking stuff to train on holiday... nah, not crazy, whatever "they" say. Just keep it in balance :)

Is it possible to rent road bikes? What does this often cost? i'd like to do that rather than bring my bike on the plane.
