Foo - Places to look for used/refurbished laptop?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am considering the purchase of a used or refurbished laptop.
~1ghz for a processing speed.
256MB of ram
Any hard drive over 5GB is fine.
This does not need to be a super computer. It only needs to run two programs. There will be no media, so sound is not even necessary.
I have been looking on ebay, but can anybody suggest anywhere else I might have luck at?

Tried Tiger Direct? They often have refurbed/old stuff.
I bought one at a Ham Radio Festival (Hamfest) for configuring routers.

Try craigslist... they usually have quite a few used laptops (At least around here in Denver)

Garage sales. I picked up a Dell Latitude LS for $80 at one...those go on ebay for around $200.
He had it sitting out there, for $120, but he had to send it to a service center to have the drive wiped if anyone wanted it...I told him i would wipe the drive there on the spot, and he said he would sell it to me for $80 then, since the service center wanted $40 for a drive wipe....so I powered it up and formatted the hard drive....chatted with him while the 6GB drive was being cleaned up, and left with a nice sub-3lb laptop.
Reason he wanted to do a drive wipe first is he was a doctor, and this was his old buisiness laptop...he had to clear out customer data. I gave him some advice on portable storage solutions, so this would not be a concern in the future, as well as showed him how to format his own drives. Computer literacy is still not as common as I wish it was....but I do try to help when possible.
I understand that some people like the FBI as a source for slightly used equipment. :D
