No, I knew what you meant, and it is WRONG. It was written about the hardest habit for Ozzy to quit...cigarettes. This came straight from an interview with Ozzy.

Actually the round green things look like a grinder to me.
They are to grind weed prior to rolling a joint. Saves time from having to break it apart by hand.

Then you'd loose all of the resins to the grinding surfaces. Not good.

Makes sense...I guess. But with the state of his mind, you never really know. Is tobacco ever sweet?

Early Metallica.
The most pure heavy metal from very talented musicians. Don't like the new stuff though. Specifically after the black album.

Looking at the lyrics its hard to imagine
Straight people don't know what you're about,
They put you down and shut you out
You gave to me a new belief,
And soon the world will love you, sweet leaf
Lots of straight people smoke cigarettes, but who am I to argue? :)

He said in the interview that the song was written about Lucky Strike brand, to be exact. He then said, but everyone seems to think it's about pot.
Not exactly a hard mistake to make (thinking it's about pot).

The Replacements
Godfathers of Grunge, irrerevent misfits, 3 really great albums at height of their creativity, band member tragically died of substance abuse, broke up before they should of 'cuz they couldn't get along, everything that makes a rock band great.

He probably was having a flashback at the time.

I seriously doubt he's talking about lighting up a ***.
Plus, anyone whose pulled a heavy hit coughs EXACTLY like the begining of the song :)

Yo, you gotta stop harvesting all of that hemp that you folks have growing wild up there. That stuff is for making rope. :roflmao: :roflmao:
Bon Scott AC/DC years. Some of Brian Johnson, but mostly Bon.
Wolfmother would be my favourite modern band.

Parliament/Funkadelic. I don't think I need to explain myself, George Clinton is the most sampled man in history.
Did you know that he did the brilliant score for Austin Powers - International Man of Mystery?

Do you like the Walkmen and the Frenchkicks?
Finally!
i personally think the walkmen are incredible (as are the french kicks, being so closely related and all)
i'm seeing sooooo much metal on this forum. there's nothing wrong with that at all, its just kinda wierd. i don't know, i personally have moved to looking towards bands that are either doing something creative right now and will go into the future, or bands that have heavily influenced much of the music up until today that has evaded the mainstreem culture to a healthy degree.
my favorite band..... ****.
i'd have to go with the band im currently most in to (meaning, its not my favorite band of all time or anything) which would be
Tapes 'n Tapes - they are pretty much just getting going. their music is incredible to me. i tend to really enjoy music that borders on lo-fi recording and simplified production. this band has a remarkable sound. check them out if you haven't
as for other favorites, here are a few which have stuck with me for the last few years:
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
Wolf Parade
the Walkmen
Arcade Fire
Kings of Leon
Belle & Sebastien
the Moving Units
!!!
Sheena (local band, amazing)
Devendra Banhart
and several more that i am blanking on.
if anyone shares interests in these bands, lets talk! it seems that most people here are more metal.classic rock pepole and itd be fun to start talking about some new stuff.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers, by far. I can (and have) written a 10 page report on why they're my favorite, but I'll just start with naming a few people/songs/times that defined the Chili Peppers.
Anthony Kiedis- Fun personality, funny, smart, great vocals-some of the best around.
Flea- Best bassist ever, experts agree.
John Frusciante- He is the best guitarist ever. Jimi only gets recognition because he has t-shirts at Kohls. Try listening to his solo work, and you'll hear some of the best, most true music ever played.
Chad Smith- I dare you to name a better drummer. Very nice guy, tears up the drums. Holds a Guinness World Record for having played a 308 piece drum set. And he's personally answered some of my questions to him.
Blood Sugar Sex Magik- This is one of the best rock albums ever, bringing some of their biggest hits, and their best songs (Sir Psycho Sexy, Apache Rose Peacock, Give it Away, Under the bridge, etc...)
Heroin- It almost destroyed the band. Hillel Slovak (the original guitarist, another great) OD'd in 1988, while Kiedis couldn't even attend the funeral because he had to seek refuge in a small Mexican city goign cold-turkey. John Frusciante quit the band in '92 during their world tour and almost killed himself over the six years that he was a hardcore heroin addict. During this he fine-tuned his guitar skills, and destroyed his body, but he was able to quit.
Californication- Their third massive success, saw Frusciante re-join the band. The album was mainly about addiction and loss.
Hillel Slovak- The original guitarist for the band, he worte most of the lyrics for The Uplift Mofo Party Plan. Also a very good sitar player.
Concerts- The Chili Peppers are one of the best performance acts ever, they probably rank in the top five. They sold out London's Hyde Park in less than an hour, they also played at Woodstock '94 and '99.
23 years- Anthony and Flea are the only original band members, and have kept the band groovin' strong for 23 years. They've recruited all of their past and current members.
Stadium Arcadium- Their comeback album from this year which was a double-disc, 2 hour CD. I think it's their second best album behind BSSM, which is very good.
