Mines Megadeth.

I love the early thrash metal bands and metal in general. I like Megadeth, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Iced Earth, etc... then also bands like Guns n Roses, Skid Row, Van Halen etc.... alot of the hair bands I like. I really like anything thats hard guitar driven and respect the talent it takes to write and play music. Ive played guitar since 2000 and drums since the begining of 06. I also record alot and cover alot of metal songs with me playing all the instruments mixed into one master.

I like Megadeth better than any band or anyone to ever play. Dave Mustaine is one of the best guitarist to ever play and can also write the best lyrics Ive ever read. The band is real political in their songs and makes you think alot. Megadeth has also had some of the best musicians in the band throughout the years. Marty Friedman, Nick Menza, Jimmy Degrasso and Al Pitrelli come to mind. Ive actually met Pitrelli as my wife works with his first cousin. He is a natural on the guitar and good guy. Trying to copy Mustaines riffs is very hard. He is a true talent.

There was a point in time I didnt care for metal music as I thought it was all devil worship. The mistake i made was I "assumed" it was devil worship. I had never actually read the lyrics to some of these bands songs. Boy was I wrong!
I got into music growing up as a kid and Michael Jackson was my favorite. Then at 13 I heard Guns n Roses on MTV. That got me hooked onto hard rock and the Michael Jackson stuff left me very quickly. Then I got into Metallica, again from MTV. Their "ONE" video made me love metal. Then I heard Megadeth and never looked back.

Its my dream to form a metal band that rivals Megadeth in song and lyric quality, but in the music world most musicians I know are drunks or drug users and I dont care for that so I just record myself for now. Mabey one day...

Who do you like and why?

I like Alesana. They're the name in screamo post-hardcore emo music. Lyrics are nice too. And few can scream like they can. Alexisonfire is pretty good too though.

Cowboy Junkies

The perfect mix of blues, rock, and folk all wrapped into one. Lead singer, Margo Timmons has an absolutely haunting voice. Lyrically, most songs are smart and make you think.

Wow more than I can name...

Ozzy
Metallica
GnR

Seriously, too drunk to name them all. I grew up a banger, got into grunge, hit some industrial and ended up ... well...back in the 80's. Most music today is ****. (not THE ****...just ****)...there has been bits and pieces but for the most part I am generally disapointed. I haven't liked an entire album (besides distrubed) since the early 90's.

Why? The bands know how to write songs with melody. There are a few others.

Bob Marley - I mostly like his earlier music where the common themes were almost gospel-like, and dealing with moral and spiritual issues/situations.

Duh, Black Sabbath! I've mentioned it before, of course.;) I think they pretty much started the heavy music genre. Others obviously had a big influence, but I think Sabbath was the most consistent for their time.

Pre- Black album Metallica for me. Despite their annoyingly morbid lyrics which came to an abrupt end when Cliff died, I think those first 4 albums have yet to be outdone by another heavy metal band. I like the newer songs too, but they just aren't as good.

I feel kind of dumb only picking out one band, so honorable mentions go out to AC/DC, Diamondhead, Steppenwolf, Jimi Hendrix, Heart, Led Zepplin, Motley Crue, The Who, Megadeth, Rush, Pink Floyd, and Rammstien. Despite their very good music, Guns N roses gets no honorable mention because they abandoned tens of millions of fans and perpetualy tease everyone with the false idea that an album recorded a decade ago may someday be released.

I hear ya on the Guns n Roses issue. Its supposedly a 3 disc album comming out, if it ever comes out. Its annoying to wait 10 years.

Don't let the 10 year wait annoy you flair. Much of that music is available for illegal download. A local station was playing some of it until Captain Duche Bag himself threatened to throw a law suit at them.

I'm a big Television fan, and Talking Heads deserve a mention, but if I have to name one it's Idaho (http://www.idahomusic.com/index_content.html). I like how every album is different and rewards repeated listens. It's pretty much Jeff Martin's solo recording project at this point, but their live show is great and everyone I've met that's connected with the band has been extremely nice.

Escape the Fate is a new band, unlabeled, but has a ton of fans. I like them a lot.
They sound to me like they have a lot of different genres themes. Sometimes they growl as if they're a metal band, scream like screamo, good melody as post-hardcore, and occasionally the guitar/bass solos sounds somewhat like classic rock as in the finishing part of the guillotine. Good all around rock band with cool lyrics. They look emo but are influenced by other older rock bands.

I would check out The Guillotine first
The ransom, no sympathy for the dead, and not good enough for the truth are other well sounding songs.

Humidifiers, like what's used in a cigar humidor. You run them under water, shake out the excess, and put one in your baggie. Keeps the smoking material nicely moist.
