I doubt you'll ever see harsh penalties like this in the NFL or MLB

What a f-ing dumbazz comment. There have already been suspensions and bans in baseball following new implementation of stricter drug testing. Wonder, if we'll ever see cycling governing bodies step up and get rid of the pharmacology of b.s. that is permeating cycling?

Let me get a piece of construction paper and a crayon and spell it out so a kindergartener can understand what I wrote.

Do you think we will ever see doping controls and punishments like banning for life in baseball/football etc... like we do in cycling? How much piss/blood is drawn after each baseball game to test for PED's?

Ex: Testing the winning team or MVP in a game for PED's and banning him/her for life on a positive? (I could list more examples and will by PM if you don't understand the comparison.)


You think the governing bodies don't want to get rid of all the doping? The problem is with the individuals. The governing bodies are the ones that are bouncing the bad apples.

Hey dork, do YOU read? Baseball has put in new controls. You think cycling is tough on drugs? Dream on fool! Maybe Cycling can take a lesson from the international Track governing body, where one offense is an automatic minimum 2 year ban. A 2nd offense is a lifetime ban. So, get off your high horse acting like cycling is the example that all other sports should follow when it comes to being a clean sport. :mad:

I thought baseball gave you like a 20 game suspension for your 1st positive, 50 for the 2nd.....that's hardly 2 years for a first offense.

And isn't the penalty for the track stars you speak of identical to cycling? Except in reality a first offense is ~4 years from the Pro Tour.

I have to agree with HWS here, other sports are just as dirty and the penalty is you get to be the homerun king.

Pretty funny. Although with your logic Armstrong won 7 tours while juicing it up with EPO. You can't have it both ways. So, if you're going to say that Barry is guilty because he is linked to a dope-supplying trainer then you have to say that Lance Armstrong is just as guilty for consulting with known EPO dope supplying doctor Michele Ferrari. After all, Barry's never tested positive. Armstrong hasn't either. Oh wait. I take that back. Armstrong actually did test positive. TWICE! And got off on a technicality. Oops. I guess his penalty for all that EPO usage is 7 Tour victories. Can you say ASTERIK?!

Your comment fails to take into consideration that HWS WAS talking about track and field... ie the Gatlin case, when he made his first comment... "I wonder if we'll ever..."

The point of the fact is this: the popular professional sports in the USA are doing next to NOTHING about the problem. The punishments are ludicrously small for first and second offenses. Cycling first offense = 2 yr suspension and a 2 yr ProTour prohibition.

The new controls in MLB are window-dressing, done because the sport was getting bad press. They had to be rammed down the throats of the players, who seem to care more about their union than they do about their integrity.

Yeah right. And like cycling is a clean sport! Geez! Get real! At least with Track & Field, one failed test gets you an automatic 2 year ban. Two failed tests gets you banned for life! Cycling doesn't even compare to that where guys just test positive (like Lance) and then they threaten lawsuits and dude gets off like he was clean. yeah right!
