Beginner here in the market for a entry level bike. I checked out the local bike shop today and they only mountain bikes they carry are Haro. They had two bikes with-in my price range $400-$500. The Haro ICS 3.0 and the Haro VFG. Does anyone know the difference in the two bikes and or how they compare to other bikes around that price range.

Haro ICS 3.0 Feedback (http://www.mtbreview.com/reviews/2002_Hardtail/product_85197.shtml)
I didn't see a "VFG", but I simply did a quick search via Google. Haro is fairly well respected.

Haro is good stuff. I just got a Haro Extreme X3 and I love it. At less than $1,200, it cost about 1/3 to 1/2 of what similar bikes from other brands cost, with good components. Everything is really beefed up. The disc brakes are very powerful. XT rear derailleur. 2.35" Maxxis tires. Psylo XC fork. WTB dual-duty rims. I've got no complaints. I test drove about 15 other bikes including Specialized, Trek, and Gary Fisher, and regardless of price, I liked mine better than pretty much all of them. The ones I did like better felt about the same, but was lighter, but no way could they be as strong. However, the cheaper you go, the more likely that bikes from different brands would be very similar.
