Kevin here...AKA FLY (I enjoy going fast on mountain or road). I am also a private pilot and love to really FLY. Anyway, just interested in getting to know some people, and finding out likes, dislikes, tips, and tricks. Also, I am currently finishing my last semester in school (Finance major at Brigham Young University) and am working on a bike project (business plan). I have posted a question in the general forum under Custom Bike Frames, and have a link to a survey I am polling to get some data for my project.

If you have time you would help me out tremedously (about 2 Min's)

Well, I have ridden mountain bikes for 15+ years, and am really into Trials riding as I have ridden mod for about 7 years, and just purchased a stock bike a year ago.

Being from Utah, I love to ride down in Moab as often as possible
Check out some short clips from last year.http://moabjeep.com/gallery/trials

I also started riding Road last year, and me and my 58 Year old Dad did the ride called LOTOJA (one day sanctioned race from Logan Utah to Jackson, Wyoming (200 miles)). Holy smokes it was a killer. finished just over 10 hours, but was just grateful to finish.

I am passionate about riding, and look forward to talking with y'all

Hey, a local! :)

Are you riding LOTAJA this year? My goal is 8hrs, first time rider... I havent put on more then 150 miles in the last month however. (40 today, great day for riding!) Welcome to the forums.

8 Hours, that's amazing.
I didn't put a whole lot of miles on last year before the ride. Maybe 800-1000. If you are serious about your training 8 hours is possible. I believe the winning time was just over 7 Hours (as it is a sanctioned race these guys are Cat. riders, and very good). We are organizing a group in the Utah county area for rides. send an email to lwinzeler@alphagraphics.com (larry is my dad). We'll let you know when we are riding in your area or training. Also, doing the skinny tire festival in moab around march 6-8th. Check it out.
Good luck.

8hrs is just a goal ;) 20 min behind the finishers? Yeah, right! Last years winner finished in 7:39...

Honestly i think i can do it in 10hrs. I have had a few 50+ solo rides with an avg of over 20mph, in a group, add 2 - 3 mph's to that. I should have ~4000 base miles by the time LOTOJA comes up this year (mid Sept IIRC).

I took some time off for the skinny tire festival, look for a tall skinny guy in a BikeForums.net jersey. Are you going to go on all 4 days? I'll be there until sunday, have to make it back to work on Monday.

Did the survey.

I guess this means all of the "older" members (like me, I'm 58) better start doing some really serious training. ;)
