General Cycling Discussion - If you weight 250+ lbs can you please tell me what saddle you ride with?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Topic says it all... can't seem to find anything short of a recumbent that won't make me feel that I was taken advantage of...

I'm not 250+, but at 242 I'm uncomfortably close. The stock Race Lux on my Trek almost caused my death for the first two weeks I rode it, but since week three I've either broken it in or broken myself in and I like it just fine.

255 currently....Specialized Alias. I read tons of info on this myself and bought a Koobi AU Enduro, which was ok up until the 20 mile mark. Then it started hurting. I read about how Chesseflavored loves the Alias and uses it as his reference saddle to judge all saddles. So I found one on eBay and bid on it a few times thinking I wouldn't win the auction...but I did. I have done 20-25 mile rides on it for several days and it is a keeper.
Oh, and I have a Brooks B17 on my Redline 925 and it works great for me on that bike.

Brooks B-17 on bth my Trek 520 and Cannondale T800. I have logged 7500 miles over the last 15 months- longest rides 65 miles 275#
Brooks B17 original with the england tag that really is older than I am. I don't remember the last time I had saddle hurt. I ride at least every other day and at least 10 to 20 miles.
I just finished my recumbent too.

Brooks B-17. Don't worry about the extra weight; the saddle is awesome.
My brother is around that size. He rides a Brooks 33 and loves it.

275+ here.
My stock Trek Race Lux does fine for a good 3 hours.
I'm trying to get my butt broken in for longer distances though.
Wait... that didn't sound right....

Currently 253 lbs. Went thru 15 saddles for my hybrid, including the B-17. Settled on the 11" wide cruiser from SeatGuy.com. On the road bike, where I'm stretched out a bit more, I'm using a Giant Anatomic.
Never got up more than 245-lbs, and at that time, I was riding the original Flite with titanium rails. No have a complaint about it. :)

230 here! WTB Pure V (came stock). But I've never ridden longer than two hours, so can't say how good is it on long rides.
But I commute with it (10-20 miles depends on the route) daily with our bike shorts, and I'm comfortable.

Brooks do make lighter sprung saddles such as the Conquest.
The spring will protect you and the bike from damage caused by an unexpected impact eg a pothole.
The heavy duty sprung models are for upright utiltity bikes.

I weigh 315, down from 365
It didn't take me too long to get used to the stock saddle on my Giant Sedona DX (dual density foam). It has felt good for over 2,000 miles inluding two metric centuries.
Some tenderness originally, or when I get on the bike after some time off, but I suspect you just have to deal with that with any saddle at any weight.

At 275, the best I've found is the Specialized Milano. Your booty may disagree... :p

When I was up there around 280, best saddle I had was a Serfas RX. However, I rode a mountain bike, and in an upright position at the time....I tried it on a roadbike, and it just did not work well....maybe that's what the "performance" version of it's for, but I never tried one of those out, just the regular Men's RX.

I'm right now at 280+, and use the stock Body Geometry Milano Comfort Max that came with my Sequoia. I'm think about switching to a brooks, but to be honest, about half the reason why is the bling factor.

I'm 240 down from 270 at January 1st. I recently switched from Fizik Arione saddles on my Lemond Alpe D'Huez and Litespeed Blue Ridge to Brooks saddles. I have ridden 2,400 miles this year, over 1,000 on the new Brooks. The Arione was fine up to 2 hours, but then would start hurting. The Brooks is as comfortable at 4 hours as it was when I got on.
I have the B17 on the Blue Ridge and B17N on the Alpe D'Huez. Best investments I've made to help increase the miles.

I'm 260 and use the stock seats on my Sirrus Pro and Hardrock Pro It feels less of violation with padded bike shorts but it is never really too comfy. Is there such a thing as a comfy bike seat?
240. Selle Italia PROlink trans am. I only have about 250 miles on it, but no complaints at all. I wear a Performance Century Gel bib.
