I purchased Avid mechanical disk brakes for my Burley tandem, but my hub is not set up for disk brake. It does have the threads for a drum brake. Is there an adapter that will fit my rear hub so I don't have to purchase another hub for the disk brake?

Yes, there are several different models available. I would, however, recommend you contact Burley's tech department / customer service...

...or a Burley authorized tandem dealer such as Mark Johnson at Precision Tandems (www.precisiontandem.com) or Mel Kornbluh at Tandems East (www.tandemseast.com) so they can quiz you on which Avid brake mount and rotor you have VS. the one they recommend for use on YOUR Burley.

There are several different adapters and rotor sizes on the market and they'll be able to make sure you have the best chance for success in mounting the Avid brake to your Burley.

FWIW: I use a six-bolt Dimension thread-on adapter with a 145mm Phil Wood hub. Here's a tip: be sure to put some anti-seize compound on the threads before you thread-on the adapter. It will make removal (which is a bit of a challenge anyway) a bit easier.
