Road Cycling - Attention Century Riders

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Just curious - how many of you have ridden a century in each month so far this year? One of my goals for the year is to complete at least one century during each calendar month. I did 105.6 miles in 6:32 on 1/9 and 100.3 miles in 6:10 on 2/1.
In March I plan to do my first organized century of the year down in Dublin, GA. I know of at least one other member of the board whi is also planning to do that ride.
If anyone is interested, I have a few online resources to help motivate you in this quest.
Peace y'all,
Lou

I am already two months behind you. The first century I am going to ride in this year is Wheels O'Fire in Harris Co. Georgia, March 8. This is down around Pine Mountain. There should be some good hills and scenery. Come on down if your board.

I rode 230km on a balmy January day earlier this year. I was planning on another 180-odd km today but for a certain illness that's floored me for the moment. Depending on how long it takes me to get my strength back, I might have to make up for it with two in March.

Yeah, most of my centuries are solo. Can't find anyone else who likes riding that sort of distance yet.

I'm going to try my second century of the month (solo) on Tuesday, Feb 18. I wanted to do it on 2/21 , that being my 38th birthday but my boss scheduled one of those $1400 a day Apple Computer Engineers to visit . Wish me luck!

Peace y'all,
Lou I'm still working on getting my first century done. I want to do it but I don't want to do it alone. I'm trying to motivate my much-less bike orientated girlfriend to do one as well, but so far it's like beating my head against a brick wall --all I get out of it is a headache. Any and all resources you have would be much appreciated.

Here are 2 links to rides in Texas

I like the organized rides. Always someone to ride with, Sag Stops to refuel your body, and a hat or t-shirt to remember your ride with.
A link about riding a century

You can do a search on riding a century and get a ton of links.
Later and enjoy your ride!

I too try to do a century a month but I skip Jan. and Feb. It's just too soon. Dublin, Ga. has been my first century of the season since 1988 or 89. It is a well organized, well run bike ride and obviously they have been doing it for years.
Roads are good and traffic is low (except for the mile that you are on US441). I 'm not crazy about the way they do the 100. You do a 51 mile clockwise loop from the mall and back to the mall. To do 100 you turn around and do the same loop counter clockwise.
Sometimes it's just hard going back out to finish the back 50, especially when the weather sucks. And the weather CAN be a factor.
Keep September open for our Beautiful Backroads Century.

You won't be disappointed.
Hope to see you in Dublin.

October's the Ride for the Roses in Austin. Probably the only century that I'm firm on, but you never know what I'll find over the summer. I'm looking forward to a fall ride in the hill country. Should be beautiful.
