Bicycle Mechanics - woo hooo! My wife just gave me a bike repair stand!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Wow, my wonderful and thoughtful wife just gave me a brand spanking new Wrench Force brand bicycle repair stand.

It is robust and fantastic (and made in the USA).

Today it rained and I didn't mind a bit. I was too busy spinning bikes upside down, sideways and every-which-way (but loose).

Man is it cool. I wonder how I lived without it for so long. It even folds up and has a carry tote so I can wrench for friends if I every decide to sag (NEVER!).

I am excited. Anybody need any repairs done? Stop on by.

Thanks, Racso. Between keeping my own bikes road ready and fixing my friends bikes, I work on bikes at least three times per week.

A couple of my friends know I am an early riser and stop by on their bike commutes to work for a fix. I am always happy to keep people riding bikes. As long as they ride the bikes, that is reward enough for me.

I am always collecting good discarded bikes and parting them out. It is great when I can reach into the treasure chest for a part and fix a friend's bike for no-cost until they have the time/money to get a better/newer part from the LBS or order.

Good things come to those who wait (and fix other people's bikes!)

We all know your heart, Mike!

I see both of you are on Board, so how are you today, I mean both of you.

What a great wife, Mike! She must know how close bikes are to your heart and you must be good to her, too!

Happy Father's Day. While I didn't score as well as you, the fam gave me a nice non-bike-related gift, then off to the beach.

If you do, and it works (i. e. doesn't topple over or drop the bike!), please post instructions or a photo! I had the idea to build my own stand a long time ago, and my friend Greg was interested, too, but now he's into motorcycles and so it's just me that's interested. (Can you imagine a motorcycle repair stand???)

My friend made his own stand. He made it out of I-beams and steel pipe which he welded together. It works well, but it weighs a ton. It surely isn't portable unless you own nine full grown gorillas who can move it for you.

Mike could afford it, because he saves so much money using his bike!!!

Are you trying to make me jealous? It is working. I wouldn't trust anything my girlfriend would buy me for my bike...but I guess it is the thought that counts.

I am truly envious, Mike! I was thinking of getting something like that, but I'm still a newbie at doing repair stuff on my bike. I just need someone to donate their bike to me for some *work*, kinda like when Frankenstein was built, ya know? ;)

She sure is sweet on 'ya, isn't she? :D

I'm starting to think so. Maybe she really does love me after all.
