Framebuilders - Aluminum and carbon fiber combination

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I recently saw a frame by Ridley that is made of aluminum but the chain and seat stays are carbon. The carbon fork comes with the frame. Other than the fork and maybe the seat post, are there any structural problems with these types of combinations? It would seem to me that there might be failures where the stays join with the aluminum.
Could be I suppose. It's comon to bond carbon to aluminum whether making front fork to stearing tube joints, or bonding aircraft structure, or ACS arrows, etc...
Almost every manufacturer offers this combination; I have not heard of any problems (which is good, because I built up an Orbea with CF stays for my wife and she really like it!).
