I've put around a 100 or so miles on these pedals now so I thought I'd share my impressions. I don't have any experience with other clipless systems so I can't make any comparisons.

These pedals seem solidly built. Everything appears to be stainless. They have double sided entry. the bearings are housed in a little hump near the quick release. I had to shave some rubber off my Lake sandals because of this hump to get the cleats to engage. If you have shoes with recessed cleats this may be a concern for you as well. There is little in the way of a platform around the cleat locking mechanism. I've read that some people have issues with hot spots on their feet from pedals with small contact areas. I have problems with hot spots on my feet using these pedals when the distance hits about 12 miles or thereabouts.

Clipping out has not been a problem. Tension is adjustable but I've found the factory setting to work well. Clipping in has sometimes been a problem. I finally figured it out. The design of the pedal is such that there is a lip at the back of the pedal where the cleat can catch if your foot is too far back when you make make contact with the pedal. I think a picture would explain better but I didn't take one. I'll try to do that if anyone cares to see it.

The Quick Release mechanism is great if you need another 3 or 4 inchs off the folded size. It's similar to a air compressers quick release on the hose, you pull back to disengage the lock and slide it forward to engage the lock. On my two Dahon's I only need to remove the right pedal since the left tucks up under the folded frame. I also use the same quick release mechanism on some platform pedals. I forgot to insure the quick release was locked in position a couple of times on the platforms and the pedal came out. It was more like the pedal came loose and began to wobble - easily controllable but it didn't happen when I was standing and hammering. You definitely want to watch that. When you remove the pedal it can be a bit greasy so make sure you have a place to put it or you'll end up get grease some where you do not want.

The cleats are stainless and aren't showing any signs of abnormal wear. They fit perfectly on the holes in the spd compatible sandals I have.

If you don't have clipless system in place and you want one for a folding bike, this is a good working solution with no obvious design flaws that doesn't compromise folded size because it is removable. If you don't care about that 3 inches of so, you can probably get a cheaper solution with a fixed pedal. I keep thinking that a bike with no pedals is also less enticing to some theives because you can't ride the bike away. On the other hand it screams expensive tricked out bike to me and might thus be more attractive to some theives. :shurgs:
