The worst is a guy I know who flips his collar every time he wears a polo shirt, which is pretty dumb but I don't care. What annoys me is when some one says something like 'nice collar' he claims to be doing it to make fun of the people that do.....

If you are going to fall in with a trend admit it, no matter how stupid it is.

I knew the 80's was coming back. Good thing I kept my wardrobe.

Only acceptable for football hooligans - anyone else is on VERY thin ice.

I chose the 2nd option becuase the "who gives a flying flip either way...never paid attention" option wasn't available.

I hired a guy who thought he was cool like that. Had a big 4 carat fake diamond in his ear. I kept telling him that he looked unprofessional and to please put that collar down. Every day I had to ask him to fix it. Finally, MY boss went up to him, asked him what was up with the open collar and told him that if he didn't adhere to dress code maybe he could find a job that had the collar thing as part of the dess policy.

Number 2 all the way. But Honestly...if you wanna look like a dork...have at it. Mostly jerky looking guys are all I ever see wear their collars like that anyway.

The rule is: If you were around for it the first time, you are not allowed to participate when it comes around again.

AND it looks stupid. It has lasted longer than it should have....

The only reason I do it, is because after putting the polo shirt on they are stuck up, and I'm too lazy to flip em down.

I have always liked the way jackets etc look with the collars up. I don't know where I acquired the taste from. Happy Days? The Equalizer? James Dean? I just don't know. I think it's classic
and classiccool is what I happen to be. So, all outerwear collars gets flipped.
I would never be caught dead saying something as stupid as "pop the collar," though
and I never "pop th

wear shirts with the collar up -that just looks like you never quite learned how to dress yourself.

Yes, I do pop the collar on my jackets if it's raining out and I want to keep my neck dry...but for fashion....hell no.

Having lived through the thick of it in the 80s, I chose NOT. :)

Man, what is it with all these fashion nightmares that keep coming back to haunt me? What's next, big hair bows and tapered jeans? Moon boots? Boxer shorts longer than the shorts over them?

When I was a kid, my dad bought me everything he liked and nothing I liked. Dingo boots, Western Flare jeans, sandals. Made me wear some red and white checked pants; where the heck did they ever come from? I got a job as soon as possible and bought my own clothes. Mostly preppy stuff but on me they never looked preppy. Oxford button-down collar shirts, crew shirts(with the collar most definitely down), straight-leg jeans and boat shoes(and no socks). I find my dad's highschool yearbook and he's wearing the same damn clothes twenty years earlier. So what's with the suede bell-bottom pants and platform boots in his closet? And why did he wear those day-glo fuschia and blue moonboots? Or those swishy nylon insulated vests that seem to be coming back in style?

Back in the 80's, they used to sell a crew shirt with a dead alligator on it. We couldn't afford to order them so we sewed Izod upside down and stitched an X on his eye. My friend Arvid put safety pins in all of his. Yeah, we were so bad. ;)

Dingo Boots! :roflmao: Thanks for dredging up that memory. ;)

Even when that stuff was haute couture for my generation, I thought it looked ridiculous. I'm a little young for Dingos, but my dad had a pair!

Izod was the shiznit.

But I am sick of all the stupid "fashions" that are coming back....like those giant lens sunglasses....great, wear sunglasses so freaking huge that nobody can really tell who you are since your face now resembles 1/4 of the forehead of a spider....great job.

You just reminded me of the time a fraternity brother ruined my favorite (well, only) blazer by doing that.
