Classic & Vintage - Any body heard of Cablain (made in France)

I am wondering if anybody has heard of the following brand "Cablain". Aprrently mad in France?

Any info appreciated.

magnifique cadre et fourche en tubes et fourreaux REYNOLDS 531 fourches avant et arrière CAMPAGNOLO, bas de fourche avant chromé; largeur fourches: avant 95mm, arrière 120mm liaisons BOCAMA étiquettage BCM SPECIALE COURSE ce cadre est en excellent état, avec quelques coups trés peu importants sur la peinture : voir photos les raccords sont liserés doré, il porte la marque CABLAIN, qui était un trés important vélociste à MARSEILLE. hauteur 60CM, longueur 58.5cm D'autres photos et/ou détails sur demande

looks nice. Never heard of the brand. If you, also, like it, buy it, yeah? Don't get hung up on marques :)

I have bought it no issue there. However I jus wanted to know a little more about the heritage. I have translated the french dialogue and have extracted the following information:

lugs: BOCAMA BCM SPECIALE COURSE
st: 60cm (unsure if c2c or c2t)
tt: 58.5 (unsure if c2c or c2t)
BB: unknown
Marque: cablain (denomination Marseilles, france)
apparently the chainstay length is aroun 43cm again not quite sure.

I gues all that detial will be apparent when I receive it.

However its more the orgin of the frame/brand I am interested.

rough, but I didn't cheat!:

magnificent frame and fork in tubes of steel REYNOLDS 531. Forks (dropouts) front and rear CAMPAGNOLO, base of front fork chromed; dropout spacing front 95mm, rear 120mm. Lugs (liaisons? interesting...) BOCAMA labelling BCM SPECIALE COURSE. This frame is in excellent condition, with a few knocks of little importance in the paint. To see a photo series in a golden frame, he opens (?) the marque CABLAIN, who was a very important cyclist from MARSEILLE. Height 60cm, Length 58.5cm. Other photos and/or details on demand.

You're Australian? Cool. I don't have any information about this brand other than what we've discovered here. Just wanted to see if I could still read enough French to order dinner :)

Google and classic rendezvous give me nothing.

Baguette Anybdy?

I am hoping to use it as a fixie project. I am a lille concerned over BB and steerer tube dameter. However, I should be able to overcome BB with Phil BB adaptors etc.

get onto Lynn at www.chainringtransitauthority.com for the PW stuff. Very competitive pricing, and helped me out on some 650b rims and tyres as well. I wholeheartedly support fixie projects, and that 4 speed spacing is perfect for fixed hubs. In fact I have a 120mm 1965 Malvern-Star built beauty with campag drops and nervex pro lugs just waiting to be transformed into a Phil Wood/Sugino/650b Paris-Brest-Paris piece of Australiana! Fixed, vintage and 650b - how many trendy cliches can one fit into a single bike?!

Are the 531 decals in French or English? That should be a good clue as to whether they were shipped with an English or French tubeset and as such what level of "French problems" you should expect.

Interesting point re decals, i'll take that on-board.

I got some info on bocama. Apparently frech like nervex and used on top end peugeot P#10 up to a period, when replaced by Nervex.

I too have dreams of PW/TA/Nitto/brooks masterpiece. one of my favourite sites is fixedgeargallery.com. This particular ishiwata tubed bianchi is to die for.
