Well, I must confess to being pretty lazy lately and driving the truck to work. However I did ride iin yesterday. It felt good. On the way home I took the long way and ended up riding for two hours. The only problem is that it was definately HOT. It's not bad while I'm moving, but soon as I stop it's like turning on a faucet. Oh well, still felt good.

I hear ya about the stopping. I flatted the day before yesterday, they had tore up the pavement on one of the arterials I have to ride, so the concrete of the side street I turn on to was about 4" higher than the arterial surface. I jumped the front wheel no problem, but the rear must have hit the edge just right (err..wrong) because I got the POP...SSSSSSSSSSSSSS and had to pull off onto the sidewalk to fix a rear flat I swear I got hotter and wetter with sweat changing that tire than I did on the entire 15 mile ride.
The thing that gets me are all the people at work who think I am crazy for riding in this 'heat wave'. Their opinion was reinforced by the lack of folks I saw out on bikes or walking in the Metroparks portion of my commute. There are usually tons of bikes, peds, joggers and such on the MUP that runs alongside my parkway route and the parking lots are 3/4 full, but for the last few days you'd think it was winter...only a handful of other folks out at all and the lots were about empty. Are we that darned fragile as a population in general that a little heat and humidity sends us into hibernation?
