Landis' fate has nothing to do with me not buying the DVD.

The was a second rate tour of second rate riders. Even Oscar Pereiro admits that second level riders were on the podium. The tactics, if you can call them that, stunk.
What about Basso and Ullrich's fate? Has everyone forgotten about them?

I think that's last month's news.

this is really getting stupid now. A DVD is just a DVD...it showcases what we have already seen. How is Landis being doped up or not going to affect what has already happened?
People arn't just going to forget this race and not want to watch it if he is guilty....so it dosn't affect citizens purchasing the DVD anyway...

I think many will.

Before the doping issue arose, I thought sure I would buy it. Now I'm not so sure.
Stage 17 was a great exploit, doped or not, but I have that on videotape. I could always copy it onto a DVD and edit out the commercials if I need fodder for roller-riding.
The whole Floyd doped issue kind of ruins it.
I don't agree that it was a Tour of Second Rates. Good riders just looked human for a change and the tactics were those of brinksmanship.
In hindsight it is a shame that Vino wasn't allowed to take part.
I think it is likely that Ulrich and Basso were doping so their dis-inclusion doesn't render the race a lesser entity, just a truer one.

and it's not like these DVDs are cheap. they're like $50-$70 when they come out. that's serious coin to drop if you're not a die hard cycling fan. if he is found guilty, i couldn't imagine a casual fan would spend that much to watch a doped performance. if he's guilty it changes the context completely.
there are a ton of public polls that indicate many people have lost interest in the tour de france since landis' test results.

I think you're way wrong on this. I think a lot of people would have bought it, to relive Landis' amazing comeback. Now a lot of people are just sick of the whole deal. I would have bought it, but won't now, unless the B sample's negative. Why would you want to watch a whole video where all the commentary is douting over LAndis, onl to have foot note at the end," by the way Landis teated positive, and Pereiro actually won." Most folks are pissed they wasted their time the first time. Not many will want to invest more time or money.

Yeah this was my 18th Tour and I'm like: Eff this race. It is a huge invesetment in time, my form always sufferes from staying up late and watching too much TV/not riding as much/focusing on others riding more than my own. I'm sure I'll still watch the race next year but it will be like dating a girl who you know you can't trust. You know you can get some action so you stick around, but your heart isn't really involved and you're just waiting around 'til something better comes along.

For me, Landis or his situation has nothing to do with it. The real race would have been with Ulrich and Basso in attendance, and that unfrotunately did not happen.
if i collected tour tapes, sure....why not? they've all doped to win the tour as long as i have been watching so i don't see the problem other that landis was stupid enough to get caught.

Only if it comes packaged with the Barry Bonds retrospective.
Why buy it when you can download it from bittorrent?

I personally would rather buy a DVD of the spansih doping affair and Landis' interviews etc. with doping.
I have most of the tour on recorded already from tv.
edit: does him being guilty stop me from buying it.... no.... I have come to the realization that they all dope.... plain and simple.

I still recorded it edited from DVR to VCR... though I'll be less likely to watch it much in the future
Despite the possible unfair advantage Floyd had on that one stage, and the farce of the victory... watching the battle is at least half the fun anyway.
I did buy the 1998 Giro when I already figured Pantani doped in winning it.
The diehards may watch it...
I mean in soccer, Juventus were found guilty of match fixing, and GolTV still shows reruns of their matches that they won by dubious ref decisions. They wouldn't show them on TV if nowone wanted to watch them.

No. Now a RAAM DVD would interest me. People don't make money on that one, strictly Pour Le Sport,

I'm still somewhat of a fan of cycling. I'll be curious to see what riders like Hincapie and Backstedt and Boonen do .. but my CyclingTV subscription will not be renewed. Heck I'm not even sure OLN will carry it next year!
But all in all, I too am now really comfortable with the fact that they all dope. May the best cocktail win. I'll check the results on the web. No need to invest my time any more.

I too would question if OLN will cover the Tour or continue the Cyclism series, except: what else are they going to show- more fishing and hunting?

If OLN cover the tour again they have to lose Al Trautwig. This guy belongs on a tabloid TV show. I don't care that he knows nothing about cycling, but he doesn't care to learn. To him the coverage is a paycheck and a free trip around France and the surrounding countries.
