Mountain Biking - Entry level FS

Hey all.

I was wondering if anyone can sugges some good entry level full suspension bikes. I just want to do some basic stuff like 2-5ft drop etc. I have a Kona hardtail and I like the feel of it. I don't know much about anything else though. If you can think of any please let me know. Also, how much is a good price for a beginner bike. Thanks

I would have keep the HT, you can get a higher line price for a decent hardtail with great parts on it.

2-5 ft...stick with a ht...duallies are overkill and overpriced in that range. Develop wicked skills on a ht move your drops up higher and higher then get a good dually. Skip buying entry level duallies. :)

Do any of you know anything about the Manomano or Mokomoko from Kona? What level would you say those are? Who would be the ideal owner for a bike like that? Thanks

They are more xc oriented and not designed to take the big hits. The previous advice to get better and go biger on the ht then step up to a good fs is good advice. If you can drop 5 to 7 feet on a ht then when the time comes you should have no problems with the 10' + drops on a good fs.

Also, how much do you want to spend. Sounds like you are going to keep going bigger so I would suggest saving up and get a good used dh/fr bike around $1500 or save more and get a new one.

I agree...stay away from entry level FS. Either the frame design is compromised, or they put junk on it to keep the price low.

Those are xc bikes. Fast light and not burly...Good bikes but no drops allowed
