It would be MUCH cooler if it had a HEMI! :D

Look at the rear wheel, the hub is off center. So as you bounce your wieght in a rythem you move...

Kinda like this but reversed... no i mean just like that but its not conected and the hub is the pivot of that drive rod...

better than nothing, but not as good as a bicycle. not sure how you'd go making one for adults - bit big and cumbersome... and bouncy!

how about these little numbers...

HAHAH thats great!

You know what would be cool on a bike, CVT( continuos variable trany). Its like the gears are dynamic, they change size. I for got witch company made them first, but now you can fint them in Econemy cars... and trains and what ever... i love it, so perfect, infinity # or gears. but it lacks strength.

The Many Uses of eccentric wheels.

1) I-go: They churned out thousands of these in the 1930s. I couldn't find any pictures online but there is one on display at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. The back wheel was 26" which means the rear triangle was huge to accomodate the eccentricity!

2) Bronco bike: Here the eccentricity serves not to motivate the bike but to make it a big pain in the butt to ride. Prolonged travel will cause nausea.

3) Kangaroo: Eccentric wheel plus both cranks on the same side of a unicycle equals a vehicle that you pedal by hopping (and can actually hop with if you're good):

These pics are from a fair in France. The inset is Wobble - something like the bronco, but supposed to be fun, not painful.

Here is a bike from www.bikeforest.com
They call it a hulabike, because it would be like keeping a hulahoop going.
you need proper timing

They had a few of these at the Tour de Fat this year (yesterday in PDX). They were built with truck tires, weighed 130 lbs (I asked).

my favorite line is from the tire tracks ad, where it tells you not to worry about offending users of the outdoors such as bulldozer operators. It always sucks to offend those bulldozer operators.

I know I'm always worried what the poachers will think. Plus we have a ton of prospectors in these parts that are trying to get bikes banned from most local trails.

I tried something like that with my BMX a while back.

I quickly learned it's only possible with a fixie.

Ah, ya gotta be a fishkeeper to get the joke here :p .

It's not just a fish-shaped sprocket, it's a Discus.

It appears that all he did was rotate one of the crank arms 180 degrees, not tough. I've done it, rode, put it back the way it was. Has anyone tried a double eccentric wheeled bike? That would be super tough to ride (I would think). Kind of like a bucking bronco.

Yeeeee Haaaw.

Now, how do you leave evidence for all the scatologists?

You may have to leave your own droppings. The field mouse is most difficult for humans to reproduce.

Start by practicing leaving replica sloth scat.

AS long as I'm NOT offending poachers....
I know the bulldozer operators are really concerned about my bike tire tracks, I should make like a field mouse

I have thought of the Kangaroo bike, haven't tried to build one- I'm not too surprised that someone else has.

It needs to be a fixie so your momentum will move the pedals back up into position again. You'd also lose a lot of power as you can essentially apply the same power as on a standard bike, but only half the time. Still really cool...just not as your ONLY bike.

I remember long long ago seeing a short TV clip where this hippy looking guy was riding one of the scooters with eccentric wheels around- I thought that was really neat, too. Once again, it would probably work great on flat land, but not much elsewhere.
