starting from an 05' specialized big hit frame. Looking at the stocker, kingpin manitou stance, jensonusa has it for $199 on sale, helluva deal.

wanted to hear some personal picks from you guys on a 6"+ travel fork. thanks.

Stay far far away from the Manitou stance line.

I will put it simply like this, the stance is well work 200$...and thats it.

Compare 200$ to regular downhill fork pricing and you will see I am saying not to buy it...its a part waiting to break

i got some feedback on the stance from my lbs and mtbr review sites. man, ppl REALLY hate that fork. i couldnt believe how many ppl hate that fork. theres usually a couple good reviews here and there but nothing.

right now im looking at the sherman slider plus, reviews are good, wish i could try one out but thats not possible at this point.

the boxxer world cup is out of my price range. need to keep this under 400. thanks for the input guys, still on the hunt.

Slider is right up there with my least favorite forks. Its very very stiff for a downhill fork. Has a more linear feel compared to boxxers and the dh marz's. It is not a dh fork but a fr fork with the intention of some pedalling so it doesn't bob. Which could be a strength if it was plush, but it is just so stiff it kinda sucked.

What are you gonna be doing with the fork? Freeride, downhill, trail riding? That would help us give better advice.

should of said this at the beginning. on the weekends i'll be using this bike for DH only. chairlift up, 3miles down, rinse lather and repeat.

then once a week i'll be trail riding and freeride (mostly trail). my ass walks uphills with my enduro, so i'm willing to do that with this bike as well.

with my enduro, i was enjoying the trails, but still walking up the steep uphills. DH was fun on an enduro but obviously limited. so, im building the big hit because i can bomb the dh's, and keep the trail riding about the same (still walking the steep uphills).

i can't go with an all dh fork because its not all dh riding for me, would a freeride fork be better to suit both worlds?
