Recumbent - greenspeed slr

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Anybody here ridden/own one of these bad boys?? It seems difficult to find any info/reviews on this trike--if it's even available.

I have a GTX which is similar, but more useful than an SLR. I can tell you that the SLR is really meant to be a hi speed road racer. The longer wheelbase makes for a more stable ride at hi speeds. My GTX can get squirrely above 40 mph. My GTT can handle 50+ very easily because of the extreme wheelbase.
As for availability, I'm sure Ian and the gang will make you one anytime you're ready. I wouldn't recommend an SLR as a first trike or even a second trike as they ARE intended to get from point A to point B as FAST as possible with little or no cargo.
Your header says you are up in SF, so if you get a hanckering to try my GS's, come on down to Monterey.
Also, the Interbike show is in Vegas on Sept. 26-29 where I'm sure Greenspeed will have some demos available to try. Maybe even an SLR.
Also, you might try inquiring at the Yahoo group; "Greenspeed trike owners" and see what thet have to say.
Good luck with that,

Ive ridden one. They're great! Drivetrian is very efficent and altough the track is very short, the thing handles like its on rails. I never even got on two wheels in the 20 minutes Id ridden it. Unless you're using it for racing, the height is a little too low. My head would sit level with someones knee, in a standing position. Its just a little to impractable IMO. But still so much fun and so fast. Your decision!
