Does anyone mix GU2O in water and freeze the water bottle the night before the ride. I would like to do this but am worried that the bottle will break as the water expands into ice. All ideas welcome!
Don't fill the bottle all the way up before you put it in the freezer.
After taking the bottle out of the freezer, fill it up the rest of the way before you go.
With the temps around here, it makes little difference freezing the bottle. It's still hot in an hour. Insulated bottles or a camelbak filled with ice are more effective.

Water in a Polycarbonate plastic bottle and placed in my freezer worked for a while. But repeated use of this caused the bottle to burst, even though it was not filled up to the top. My guess is that polycarbonate was not designed to expand and contract like this. At today's bike shop, they offer the soft plastic bottles and the polycarbonate type. The soft plastic has a distinct odor to it and one has to wonder if its good for you.
