was a tell for me when al troutwig asked him after stage 17 how did landis put i such an epic ride after the huge crack the day before.

when the question was asked ventura looked down and so did bobke.

if the question had been asked by anyone other than troutwig it might have been a veiled accusation.

ventura came back with landis' belief in himself, superior training etc etc.

so what did robbie know and when did he know it  ?

Yeah good question. Whatever the answer is, that guy's coaching business is in jeopardy.

Good point. I remember that, and there was definately a moment of ackward silence before Robbie answered.

I was thinking about that on my ride this morning.

Ventura's hopes to be the next Carmichael are toast; the Phonak team members won't get a big bonus (assuming Floyd was going to do like Lance did and split the prize money with his team); Phonak will be forever linked as the "doping team" of the middle of this decade. Lots of fallout beyond just Floyd...

Perhaps they thought they could get away with it since he didn't get the yellow back on that stage. Ventura must have been sweating it once he knew Floyd was being tested. I'm so glad that guy has been discredited. There were a lot of annoying bits to OLNs coverage, but Ventura was the worst. His TV analysis was just his yes-man "Floyd can do it! Floyd's looking great!" BS. I couldnt' hit the mute button fast enough when that guy came on. OLNs biased coverage really came back to haunt them on this one. They were able to completely ignore the issued of how Armstrong beat Bass/Ullrich all these years if they were doping and he wasn't, but they can't ignore this.

Liggett was the worst announcer. He's so obnoxious. "No Australian will ever win the Tour." Why, cuz they don't dope enough?? He says "may they never return" about Basso/Ullrich/Vino but then one minute later says "Millar deserves another chance." I loved it the year before when he was so dismissive of Vino's early attack in the last stage. What an idiot.

I feel like I just read a post written by Jackson Pollock. However, one question for you. So, you're glad that Robbie Ventura's business is probably ruined because you don't like his commentary? That's amazing.

I wasn't always thrilled with all of OLN's coverage and personalities, but it beats the alternative, and I understand their reasoning for being biased toward the American riders and team. They're trying to attract the largest audience possible and their audience is American.

I agree that Ventura's business prospects are pretty poor unless Floyd's boys really wow the USADA. But, cheerleader that Ventura was, he was SO much better than Carmicheal, who is nothing but a tool, it's a shame that Ventura's the one getting smeared.

(Legal dislaimer: The following was strictly an anti-Carmicheal reference, no anti-LA sentiment neither express nor implied.)

Sorry, I don't trade insults. Yeah, I'm glad I don't have to watch Howdy Doody Ventura anymore.

The alternative is Eurosport.

He was all by his lonesome after the start of the last climb. He knew he would be tested as a stage winner independent of whether he regained the yellow.

Problem is you need a translator to understand Sean Kelly, but it really is nice to get a broader perspective.

Are you saying he doped AFTER the start of the last climb? Everyone thought he was nuts to take off so soon at the start of the race. Nobody thought he'd go the whole way without at least some riders reeling him in. Nobody predicted it.

Hmmm, maybe he should have found a way to get caught by the peleton..

No-after he dropped Sinkewitz at the start of the last climb and had Hagland minutes behind as well as the chase group, he knew he had the stage won. The stage winner gets tested.

-Or, If Floyd were a smart cheater, he would at least have dropped his pace enough to not drop Hagland and let him and Sinkewitz and maybe Sastre by so he didn't get tested.

I don't think anyone is accusing Landis of being a smart cheater. It was a total bonehead move to mess up the application of the patch. One retired rider said "Testosterone? They've been testing for that for 25 years." It's a total Homer Simpson move.

jeopardy? I think his bid to be the new Chris Carmichael is over.

The first time I heard Ventura I couldn't help but think "This guy is no Chris Charmichael." I was more certain every single time I heard him.

The hyperbole oozing out of Robbie was Donald Trumplike. Now, I'm convinced that if you stuck Ventura's brain up a gnat's behind, it would resemble a BB in a boxcar.

Who needs due process? Trautwig asked a question and at least 2 of the genius posters and longtime bike racing experts on bikeforum (longtime expert being someone eager to parrot the comments of other self proclaimed longtime experts in order to appear to have an IQ higher than the seat tube of their bike) believe the facial expressions of the announcers provided clear and convincing evidence that Floyd Landis is a doper. What the h--l else do you people need? A video of Landis rubbing testosterone gel on his n-ts muttering, "this will show those French maggots who the real boss is?"

For crying out loud, it's a smoking gun, already, fetch the rope and find a tall tree. We've got our man. The inquisition is over, let's just feed the bloodlust of the mob.
