i saw that article too...i wouldn't say she was stupid...just to honest...i would have gotten a few $1000 bucks and then told somebody...the thing gave away $500,000 bucks...the casino would have definently noticed eventually and then somebody probably would have gotten in trouble for sure...

Why is she stupid? Because she's honest? Or is she stupid for just sitting in a casino expecting to win money? Or is she stupid for sitting in a casino just for the fun of it, not really expecting to win any money?

YIKES, I think its a tough call. I'm a firm believer in what comes around goes around. She was being honest and you can't blame her for that fault. To bad more of society is not this way. I think she will be glad one day that she did what she did, even if it means she feels good inside.

Yes, she could have said nothing and kept getting tons of money back that she didn't win. Is that fair, who knows?? It would bug me personally if I just played and didn't say anything.

But I take her credit away for actually playing slots.

Here is the problem with machines, computers, etc. They were made by MAN. Man at some point or another is going to make an error. Does this make it right by cheating when there is an error?? We can't rely on computers always being right. We have to use some caution when giving computers jobs that man doesn't want to do.
Voting machines. I haven't had to use one yet. No sure how I feel about them. Honestly I like check systems where man is checking the machine and the machine is checking man. :)

Wouldn't that be theft? Isn't the contract between you and the casino / machine is that you enter $20 and you get a ticket for $20? Just because you can get away with it (and maybe not since there are cameras everywhere in Vegas), doesn't mean it's okay.

For example, if I withdrew $20 from my bank's ATM, but the machine shuffler counted out $200 and only deducted $20, wouldn't that be a mistake? If your bank / financial account is accidentally credited money that wasn't supposed to be there and you spend it, you are responsible for it, even if the bank made a mistake.

Meh. I say casinos and banks are fair game. And don't think they wouldn't do the same to you.

Life is about exploiting advantages. That's why we have nice things like heated water and dentists while the rest of the animal kingdom dies shortly after its reproductive peak. Is it bad to draft someone during a race? They are, afterall, doing most of the work.

Besides, I don't consider that to be lying or dishonesty. If the person entered into an agreement w/ the casino that any glitch would be immediately reported but went ahead and took advantage of it, that would be dishonesty. This is just simply being a weasel. I like weasels. They're cute and furry. But they do kinda stink.

That's what I was thinking. I am sure there are laws addressing this but I am unsure as to how they would go. In essence the machine is acting as an employee of the casino. It is giving you incorrect change just as a cashier at the Piggly Wiggly might.

I don't think it makes a difference if it piggly wiggly or a casino. It still is probably morally wrong. Not sure about legally however. Wish i knew.

Isn't receiving welfare while your perfectly able to work also stealing. There is stealing in so many degrees going on all over the place. Credit card fee's, cell phone fee's and bank charges. Casinos are in the business to make money off of deception. They employ confusing floor layouts that hide the exit, they highlight the most poorly paying machines and so on. They are there to get your money. Yet, they use the best security to make sure YOU do not make off with any of THEIR money. I say its fair time someone got theirs. I had friends that won $60 and then $180 at a slot machine and they collected the payout and were approached by security and told to leave for no reason. So right or wrong, good for those people for sticking it to the man and also good for her for informing the Casino of the issue. Honesty is always commendable......

Justify stealing from a casino, justify stealing from a bank, eventually you will justify stealing from a church.

Amazing that I didn't see this before...my girlfriend used to work at Oak Ridge National Labs, right after I met her, and she once went car shopping at Bill Heard. Got the runaround, was smart enough to call bull****, started walking out.....

And the salesman, big ****** guy, tried to block her in and prevent her from leaving.

Now, my girlfriend is about 5'5, slender, not particularly physically imposing. But she's been in martial arts since she was 7, has climbed 28,000 foot mountains, and has a wikkid temper.

So she tells the guy, very calmly, to get the hell out of the way. He refuses. She tells him that he has the choice of moving or getting his ass handed to him on a plate. He laughs and makes a very rude comment. She tells him to move again, very calmly. She tries to walk around him....and he grabs her arm.

So she hit him like a goddamned cobra- nailed several very sensitive areas with elbows and knees, then launched him over her shoulder with some kind of crazy aikido throw that rammed him face-first into the ground and broke several facial bones. Then she called the police and pressed charges against the guy, got him booked for assault once he got out of the emergency room.

Seems to me they need a few more of those incidents.

Never mind her, I bring you...my Aunt. For instance:

When told of New Berlin, Wisconsin, she replied: "Why would they name a city in Wisconsin after a city in Poland?"

When her niece told her she had just returned from Paris, she asked if she had "...gotten a chance to see the Leaning Tower of Pizza".

While looking at a map of the US, she told my uncle that she couldn't figure out why the snow had melted in New Jersey, but was still on the ground in Vermont. "I mean, Vermont IS closer to the sun".

Discuss.

Co-Worker and I were watching the news with a group is others. We all live in the midwest. This was a few years ago when Philly was getting hammered with 3 feet of snow. In all seriousness she addressed the group and said "Boy I sure hope that storm doesn't come this way". I couldn't let it go. I had to inform her that unless the earth's rotation stops and and begins to spin in the opposite direction, we are not going to get any part of that storm. She was not a bright person.......:D

+1 on this. Most casinos are borderline criminal, and a disease on society. Anyone who thinks it's harmless fun or 'entertainment' is out to lunch. I've personally seen people lives (not mine) completely ruined by gambling. Is it their own fault? Probably. But the fact that these places even exist is horrible. Even worse is that here we have VLT's that are run by the government, with revenues going towards anti-gambling programs. Right, like philip morris sponsoring a stop smoking campaign...

This is awful, I can't believe that could happen to me. I would probably be doing a stretch in the can if that guy had tried that with me...or even if I was around when it hapened to somebody else. When we were in the carribean last week, my two sisters were out walking in this market, and some hair-braiders were there. They literally cornered them, and tried to sell them hair braiding. My one sister said no, that's fine, thank you. The braiders come out with the racism talk, saying the girls hated black people, etc. My sister says that "no, we simply don't need our hair braided." One of the braiders actually grabbed some of her hair, made a little braid, then told her she owed her money for it:eek: .....sheesh

A man trying to open a rocket propelled grenade with a sledgehammer ?!?!?!

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (Reuters) - A Brazilian man died on Tuesday when he tried to open what police believe was a rocket-propelled grenade with a sledgehammer in a mechanical workshop on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro.

Another man who was in the workshop at the time of the explosion was rushed to a hospital with severe burns, a police officer told Reuters. The workshop was destroyed and several cars parked outside caught fire.

Police found several unexploded army issue rocket-propelled grenades in the workshop. They believe the ammunition had been brought there by scavengers wanting to sell them as scrap metal, but they also are investigating a possible link to Rio's heavily armed drug gangs who often raid military bases.
